Absolute insanity! I've never experienced a restaurant manager (Michael, I believe he called himself on the phone to the police) with such a megalomaniac attitude toward paying customers!!! His apparent premise is that each customer in the driveup MUST wait meekly for 5-10 minutes until they are ALLOWED to clearly and quickly state their REQUEST for food. THEN they will be told whether the food is being served at that particular time. As in "No, I do not have mild chicken drumsticks. You will have a spicy wing." Or - most recently - "You must come into the store to get your (already-paid-for) mobile order!" Mind you, I had already TRIED to come in before I got into the drive-thru line. THE DOOR WAS LOCKED!!!! And, anyway, I was trapped in the line with no way out!!! After...PLEADING with this crazy megalomaniac to fill my already-paid-for order from the drive-thru (where I'd been trapped for 20 minutes already) he imperiously ANNOUNCED that HE didn't have chicken sandwiches. Not sure what "didn't have" meant... and Michael wasn't deign to explain. When I asked for clarification, he THEN accused, ummm, ME of being Rude!!!!! This crazy, infinitely rude Tyrant is calling me rude????? And, because I was ...rude... to Him... I was to leave His line. ('No food for you!!') I sat there for a minute, just dumbfounded!!! He gets to keep my money. I get no Popeyes (I had promised my grandson Popeyes for doing all his homework). Within 60 seconds, this wild-eyed nutcase (and a girl... his sidekick???) comes out the back door, approaching my car, menacing me!!!! I quickly locked my door and rolled up my window and just stared at him, frozen in disbelief. I felt like I was in some gangster movie with the gangleader threatening my life. This THUG then calls the police -on ME!! After that a very courteous police officer rolled up. I explained what had actually happened. She looked very confused (apparently that's not the story this guy had told her.) She very kindly offered to go inside the restaurant and obtain my food for me. And she did. Now, the police in this godforsaken town (where wannabe gangsters rule restaurants and terrorize customers... while gangsters in the street are terrorizing taxpaying citizens)... our hard-working police do NOT have time to get involved in such absurd trivialities orchestrated by sociopathic restaurant managers!!! However this professional young woman took up her valuable time courteously handling this preposterous situation.
Needless to say - even though I pass by this restaurant 4 times a day - I will drive across the river to get my Popeyes chicken. Interestingly, it appears that there are rarely more than 1 customer's car at this location whenever I drive...
Read moreThis might be the first review I’ve ever done in my life and not because I’ve never had good food before that I felt deserved a high rating, but because I didn’t think reviews really affected a business that much. That being said, I’m not gonna lie, I was a bit hesitant to go here because of all of the bad reviews I had seen online. However, I had never had this particular Popeyes myself, so I thought why not give it a try and see what all the negative hype was about.
And I have to say, I am so glad I did. Not only was the gentleman working the drive thru extremely cordial, and very professional, but he took my order almost immediately as soon as I pulled up and had no problem quickly applying the coupon I used with my order, and even told me to keep it for next time.
The food came to the window quick and piping hot, and everything was nice and fresh. The chicken was delicious and so were the Cajun fries. And to top it all off, he even gave me a bunch of chicken tenders for free because they were out of chicken sandwiches. I even saw him deny a tip that the driver in front of me tried to give him before I pulled up to the window. Genuinely good service and amazing food as it is an any well run Popeyes.
Moral of the story is: don’t believe all the reviews you read online about food places, go see for yourself!! and more importantly, the Popeyes on Glen Ave....
Read moreIf I could give zero stars on service and atmosphere i would. Came here after attending an event in peoria not from the area. Parking lot was trashy pulled up to the drive thru sat for 5 minutes because there was a vehicle in front of me that was in park didn't even look like he was being helped. Decided to back up and go inside instead upon walking up to the door you can tell no one cleans outside there was trash every where by the door, we walked inside where an employee was in front of me still in her Popeyes shirt, ordering food, they were quick to all help her get her food ordered, then let her come back and box up her own food and take the chicken from the back which I can assume is the freshest while customers are getting the chicken that's been sitting in the front under the heat lamp for a while by the looks of it. Guy at the register told us they would be with us in a minute while still putting in the employees order and then walked away saying "I'm ready to get out of here" came back to the register with his purse to clock out while all other employees continued to look and walk right past us so we left and went some place else. Short staffed or not unacceptable to be rude. Glad I don't live in the area. I can't image how locals are treated daily by this establishment. After seeing all other reviews I'm not sure how this location is...
