Tasting Soul Food — Restaurant in Peoria

Im from the South.. I wil say that the catfish is the best that I have tried in Arizona!A+ The potato salad was definitely the star of the show..A+ It was incredible..top 3 of what i have ever had... this is what Soul Food is supposed to be..The baked beans B-, too dry Cornbread B- too dry Overall still fantastic meal and great value.. We enjoyed our meal... The owners are great people , warm and inviting.. an overall great experience....however we have tried to call almost every week for the last few weeks and no one answers during the time that they are supposed to be serving... we are unable to even order food which has left us confused.. and disapointed... So once again Phoenix area dissapoints when it comes to soul food.. We were so excited and thought we had found the needle in a hackstack.. the pot of gold under the rainbow..you understand..lol If you are fortunate enough to eat here, you will enjoy it... We have decided to call my sister, who is a chef and ask her for soul food recipes and way of preparing catfish etc .. I will even go to east coast and get the ingredients myself next week. I give up...Ill do it myself...LOL .to update..I called back later at the same number and left message.. no response…again..only in Arizona..I...

I Google Southern Fried Fish and Tasting Soul Food came up and I read the reviews. I called and my order was taken over the phone and the man was nice. I also spoke with Shar. The food was ready and I took a minute to get back and the food was still good. I am very picky about soul food and down home cooking. I am from Mississippi and California and my folks can cook. I ordered fried shrimp, it came with coleslaw and baked beans. I was in the area as I work at Fry's on 67th & Bell. It wasn't too far. I reside in Phoenix. The baked beans off the hook, and coleslaw very tasty. Do yourself a favor and call Tasting Soul Food. They know how to cook. I am not always a weekend cook. I like to treat myself once a week at least. The portion is fair for the price. They are good " peeps". I highly recommend it's worth the drive. I went back to Tasting Soul and delicious fried catfish, fried shrimp, greens, cornbread muffin, ...

The food and service great. I met Shar who gave me curbside service. I ordered fried shrimp, it came with coleslaw, baked beans, a dinner roll, a slice of cake and a soda. The portion was fair for the price. The shrimps were perfect in taste, and texture, devein very clean. The baked beans delicious, coleslaw tasty. I recommend this Tasting Soul over " Mommas Soul Fish and Chicken in Phoenix 🍤. I mean no disrespect but the truth . Do yourself a favor and check out Tasting Soul Food. I'm a Mississippi, California girl. They both has great food. These are Tennessee folk. I've been to Tennessee and they can cook. I will definitely, be going through the menu. These are good " peeps ". The Lord bless...
