This place exceeded my expectations every step of the way! I ordered their take on the Cuban, a sandwich that I find a lot of establishments tend to get completely wrong, especially when they attempt a spin-off of the traditional recipe. This was pretty far from "traditional", but worked on every level. Not only were the vegetables unseasonably crisp, fresh, and flavorful, they were complimented with a wonderful housemade roll and equally flavorful meats and cheeses. They didn't stop there though, my takeout box was full of other artfully arranged surprises, like a little wedge of artisan cheese, some fancy olives, a crisp pickle, an accent of colorful fruit slices, and more. Then they bought it home with a fresh chocolate chunk cookie that left no bites under-chunked.
I have eaten plenty of forgettable sandwiches from lap-top to-go boxes - carelessly skipping rental cars across sidewalks and foregoing stoplights in nameless towns while I tend to a fresh grease stain on my dress shirt; fingers dripping with condiments as I blindly veer from lane to lane across every nondescript highway that spans this great nation - but this was a standout experience, this was different. If you were one of the people diving out of crosswalks or swerving into snowbanks to avoid the impending wrath of my misdirected, knee-steered vehicle, you should stop in Gathering Grounds for lunch and see for yourself. This one time, it was not my fault - I was helplessly whisked away in a daydream - as if seated at a smartly dressed table in a fine eatery somewhere far away... cloth napkins and jacketed waiters, the quiet clinks of silver flatware on sturdy porcelain, soft music drifting through the air like a...
Read moreOmg. I found this place 30 mins ago for the first time in 3 years of living here. Maybe it me and I need to get out more but holy shit what a vibe. It was like a time warp into the owners family. They had more than drinks. This place was small but with big menu.... Huge variety of items to eat...more than u can find for miles. Wood was everywhere. This rustic wooded barn yard antique existed on every inch on this place..and it got better in the basement. No one was there but mahogany furniture ..and rustic vibes ..multiple chairs and tables. ..multiple couches....and little nooks to read or write ...in almost complete silence.....it felt like a hideaway from the world...the staff were all smiles....all happy...all helpful . It was a real Treat to find this place. I can't wait to go back and pass out on the couch for a Couple of mins. Absolutely...
