I really had high hopes for this place. I'll give the goods and the bads...
We were greeted as soon as we walked in and were seated right away. From there, we sat for about 5 minutes before someone came to take our drink order. Once the drink orders were taken, the service from there on out was good. Our waitress was very nice and did a good job.
Now to the food. I did ask the waitress what most people get when they go here, and she said either the perch or walleye. Unfortunately for us, I asked this at the end of our meal. We started with a few different things, as we had never eaten here before. We ordered what was a special, the lobster jalapeño poppers. Also, the Oysters Rockefeller and the lobster bisque. We ordered the main course at the same time. My wife and I split the veal parmesan, and the kids each ordered the kids' steak and fries.
The lobster poppers were not horrible. Though they were battered and deep fried with the stems of the jalapeños still attached. Normally, I would just eat around the stem, but they were covered in the batter, and you couldn't tell where they were. Also, for being stuffed with lobster, there was absolutely no lobster taste at all. Almost made me wonder if there was even lobster in it. Next was the Oysters Rockafeller. I've never had oysters before, let alone Oysters Rockefeller, and we were pretty excited to try these. But these tasted liked a squishy greasy cheese. You could see very limited seasoning on them, and it was pretty bland. The lobster bisque was pretty disappointing all together. It was comparable to a bad tomato soup. The lobster tasted like imitation lobster and was in a ball like form. I love lobster bisque, and this was not one I would get again. Now, on to the main dishes. The veal parmesan was just not good either. The veal itself was mushy and chewy. It was covered in cheese, which seemed like the only thing holding the veal together. The alfredo noodles were covered in a tomato sauce that had very little flavor. Even when ate together, it was just a mushy bland taste. The kids' steak meal was surprisingly the best food of the night. The kids loved it, and the price for it was great. With them liking it so much, we tried a bite of theirs. It was tender and flavorful. Made me wish I had ordered the kids' steak. They also liked the french fries that came with it.
I dont like leaving reviews like this, but I'm just trying to give the best description of what we ate. With that being said, I think we would give the place another shot sometime down the road. The next time, we would take the waitresses' recommendations and try the...
Read moreHonestly amazing experience; We ordered the raspberry lemon drop martini and the raspberry bourbon to start. Both drinks were very good tasting and had a great amount of alcohol especially for the price. We then ordered the the seafood nachos for the starter and enjoyed it very much, it was loaded up of seafood and had great flavor (especially the pico de gallo) some of the cheese was not melted but we got there close to closing so it’s understandable. I ordered the Shrimp Dinner (grilled) and was very happy with both the serving size and the flavor/quality. I think it came with about 7 or 8 shrimp and for my 2 sides I got the fries and the Caesar salad the fries were really tasty and so was the salad. My mother got the lobster bisque, which had a very good amount of chunks of lobster, when looking at the other reviews I spotted one that said the lobster bisque had chunks of tomato in it which is not true, it only has lobster in it. It was topped with Parmesan not mozzarella which was also claimed in the review i mentioned. Overall my mother thought it was flavorful and very nice with complementing flavors in it, it was not too acidic like the other review says. My mother also got the jalapeño poppers which were very fresh when they came out and much larger than expected, they were filled up nicely with cream cheese and cheddar cheese. My father got the Offshore Burger which was juicy and cooked perfectly and had an ample of their crab dip on it which went wonderfully along with the flavors of the burger. He also mentioned how the size of the burger was really good, he got the loaded coleslaw on the side which came with bacon pieces and shredded cheese on top. He thought that even though it was an odd combination the bacon and cheese complemented the sweetness of the coleslaw quite well. We arrived quite close to closing and despite that the server we had was still very sweet and patient with us, honestly hats off to her since we took quite a while to decide on what we wanted. Above all we had an amazing experience and will be looking forward to coming back at some point, which is a considerable compliment because we live in Columbus. As a collective we agree that the seafood nachos are the best food we had and we are still thinking about them and how good and fresh...
Read moreWe were out of town staying at the Great Wolf Lodge for our 2nd night, and after having an AWFUL meal at the hotel the 1st night (seriously it was glorified high school concession stand food and super expensive)...we decided to venture out and get a real meal. After reading some reviews about local places, we landed on DeMores. People seemed to have good things to say about it, and its menu looked appealing. We had 3 of our 4 young children in tow, and at 1st glance I was a little worried that we had stepped into a place that wasn't friendly to children. But after asking one of the staff if it was okay that the kids were here, we got a warm welcome with an "Absolutely okay! Come on in & sit anywhere you'd like" After reviewing the menu there was plenty of options we were excited about. We ordered the crab dip, 2 bowls of Lobster bisque, I got a bleu cheese burger, and my wife got the shrimp dinner (or something like that) The crab dip was PHENOMENAL, the Lobster bisque was fantastic, and my burger actually had enough bleu cheese on it! I wanna take a second and just talk about how important it was that they put enough bleu cheese on...I think because so many people don't like bleu cheese, that often someone who dislikes it is making your burger where they have to put the bleu cheese on, because people who don't like it think of blue cheese as gross and powerfully tasting, they only put a little dinky amount on. Needly to say, the cook at DeMores LOADED it up! I was SUPERE pumped about it & it was delicious! Overall it was the most authentic meal we've had in a very long time, we told our some of our friends that were also staying at the Wolf Lodge about it...and they went for lunch today. I don't drink, but for those that do it looked like they had lots of different beers on tap, along with a serve yourself tap option that seemed cool if that were your jam. Service was good, she was obviously busy but she kept us well provisioned with refills on the kids drinks and food was prompt. Kids were happy and ate most of their meals. Overall very happy with everything & extremely glad we decided not to get ripped off on a 2nd terrible meal at...
