Pizza usually falls into the trap of either being affordable, good, OR close by; but you can only pick two. I try to avoid the major chains unless there’s a ridiculous deal, or I’m in a time crunch. Until Home Slice opened, my go-to was Johnny’s (still a chain, but better IMO than the top three), but they’re much further away. It’s also more $, as a 16” one topping is just a tad more than Home Slice’s 18” one topping. By those numbers it doesn’t sound like much of a difference, but with Home Slice you’re getting about 53 square inches more pizza. Win.
As for ordering, online wasn’t up yet; so I tried calling a few times to no avail. Anytime I’ve driven by previously, the parking lot had been jammed with customers. So, figuring they were just busy, I drove there and ordered in person. They were indeed busy, but there wasn’t a line, and the lady that took my order apologized for the unanswered phone calls. She said the pizza would take about 45 min, so I ordered, left to run an errand, and came back. The pizza was ready when I returned 45 min later, but it wasn’t piping hot, and although left in a thermal bag, I’m not sure how accurate that time estimate was. Better to underpromise and over deliver I suppose?Next time I may just wait for it (if there’s an available spot to sit).
As for taste, it was comparable to Johnny’s, better than the major chains, slightly sweeter (think Papa John’s) and overall it’s less salty than others I’ve had (I’m sure my blood pressure won’t mind). It was also more chewy than I’m used to. There was one area that some charred bits fell on, so maybe they haven’t quite yet mastered the baking process, or cleaned their ovens properly, but hopefully in time they will. It’s nice that there’s a pizza place in Perry that serves good pizza at a reasonable price and that’s close by. Hopefully the few issues they’ve had will get worked out and they’ll establish themselves as a local spot for...
Read moreI went in for lunch today 7/29/25. The parking lot was full, and it is a newer business, so I expected a little wait. I walked in the door, was greeted with a warm hello. They let me know I could sit wherever I wanted, and someone would be right with me.
The place was clean and bustling with people enjoying lunch. There were 3 servers visible on the floor at that point. The place smelled great, like a good pizza place should.
I sat down and looked at the menu already on the table. My server came to my table in less than 2 minutes to greet me and ask for my drink order, and if I wanted any appetizers. I ordered a coke, and some wings. She returned with my drink very quickly. I let her know that I wasn't ready to order more yet, but I would be. A few minutes later, after my server noticed I wasn’t looking at my menu anymore she asked if I was ready to order. I ordered a 14” pizza with 2 toppings + extra cheese.
My wings were delivered about 13 minutes after ordering. The were cooked well, Hot and very flavorful! I ordered the Buffalo, and I really liked the flavor. My pizza was delivered about 20 minutes after my initial order but timed perfectly. With as busy as they were, and after ordering an appetizer I was anticipating a longer wait for the pizza, but it was great timing.
My pizza was hot, fresh, and tasty. The cheese was nice gooey stretchy goodness. There was crushed red pepper, parmesan cheese, and garlic on the table, but I didn’t need any. While I was eating, as servers would pass my table they would check in with me, not just my server, but other servers as well. Teamwork was in full force, and very much appreciated. The level of service was great.
Overall experience = Excellent! I will definitely be back soon! Fast, hot, delicious food, in a...
Read moreHome Slice Pizza is everything you’d want in a neighborhood restaurant. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with the kindest, most welcoming staff. The atmosphere is clean, spacious, and family-friendly, with plenty of booth seating that makes it easy to relax and enjoy your meal. Parking was a breeze, which is always a bonus!
We ordered their signature “Home Slice” pizza, wings, and cheese sticks, and every bite was outstanding. The toppings were very generous, and the wings had just the right amount of heat and seasoning. You can tell this place takes pride in doing things right. Their menu is incredibly diverse, with many specialty pizzas, garlic knots, and desserts we can’t wait to come back and try next time.
As someone who knows several of the employees, I can say firsthand that this place is run by some of the most upstanding, hard-working, and genuinely good people you’ll meet. It’s such a gift to have a restaurant of this quality in the community - a place that delivers amazing food with heart and hospitality.
I highly recommend checking it out as soon as you can. Whether you’re grabbing a quick bite or settling in for a family dinner, Home Slice...
