Clover Wine Merchant — Restaurant in Perry

I first heard about this place from my AirBnB host after first moving to Perry six months ago. She had stopped by to check on something before going there for dinner with her sister who was visiting. I was intrigued as to how Clover would hold up to some of the restaurants I've been to in other places, so I decided that's where I'd go for my birthday dinner.

As is tradition, my parents accompanied me. It was a Wednesday around 6:30, and we were the only table sat, except for a couple who came in after but left before us. Because there is no set menu, everything being offered was memorized by our server, who is also the daughter of the family that owns Clover. Everything she mentioned sounded delicious, and most importantly WAS delicious.

Mike, owner and sommelier extraordinaire, suggested a wine based on what I was eating and what kind of wine I liked, and it couldn't have gone better. He is truly a wealth of knowledge when it comes to wine. Lannette, his wife and the other owner, was seen periodically making her way back to the kitchen to ensure everything coming out of the kitchen was perfect, and it was every time. Each of them stopped over more than once to ensure we were satisfied with our meal.

So yes, the dining experience at Clover absolutely holds a candle to any other upscale place I've been to and in some ways, surpasses them. Yes, it's quite expensive. This isn't a place I'd suggest going if you're on any sort of budget. Be ready to throw caution to the wind and order what you fancy without regard to how much the bill will be at the end, because it will be more than you likely expect...BUT...

This is hands down the best place in Perry for an exceptional wine and dining experience. My wife and I had an unforgettable evening here. From the moment you sit down at the high top, you’re welcomed by Michael, a knowledgeable sommelier who takes the time to understand your palate. There are no menus here—just a curated experience where Michael expertly pairs one of their over 250 wines to perfectly match your tastes.

He thoughtfully offers a selection of wines to taste, ensuring you have the ideal one to enjoy before and during your meal. The food was incredible—we ordered the same dish and were blown away by the flavors. The steak we had was easily one of the best we've ever tasted. The appetizers, sides, and overall service were impeccable.

I’ve been dying to try this place. Based on photos, the food looked amazing. I was highly disappointed. We order the lamb and 10oz filet. We asked for medium rare, it came out blue . My lamb was under seasoned. I decided to pack every up and take it home to season it and cook it more throughly. When we received the check it came out to $230. My husband and I enjoying spending money on food and great atmosphere. We did not get either and to charge $80 for lamb is outrageous. Especially in a small town like Perry. I’ve lived in Tampa, ATL and San Francisco. I have never paid that much for lamb. Apart from the restaurant, the wine store itself is great. They have a great selection of wine.
