I had an absolutely horrible experience at this McDonald's today—honestly, I’m still a bit shocked. It was the single worst customer service experience I’ve had in my 42 years.
Our plan was to take our kids (15, 8, and 3) to see the Minecraft movie, and since we saw McDonald’s had a Minecraft crossover, we decided to go there for lunch beforehand, thinking the kids would love the toys.
I placed a mobile order with table-side delivery. When we arrived, we found a table, I checked in on the app, and our food was brought out quickly.
As I was passing out the food, I realized the Minecraft toy that was supposed to come with my 8-year-old’s meal was missing. I asked my husband to head up to the counter to let them know, assuming they’d just hand him the toy and we’d be on our way—mistakes happen.
He waited at the counter for about 5 minutes until someone came over. From the table, I could see something wasn’t going right, so I left our youngest two with our teen and went to help.
When I got there, the supervisor was saying the toy was a “high value collectible” and she couldn’t give us one based on our word. I offered to pull up the receipt on my phone, but she said that proved nothing—we could’ve taken the toy out ourselves. She said her boss would need to review the cameras, and that we’d have to come back tomorrow.
We were stunned. My husband suggested she come over to the table to verify we had no bags and hadn’t left the restaurant, but she refused, saying it still wouldn’t prove anything.
She claimed this was a “reasonable solution.” I told her it absolutely was not—it would leave my 8-year-old disappointed and require me to return the next day to fix something that wasn’t my fault. Still, she insisted it was the only option.
Trying to avoid further disappointment for my child, I said I’d reorder another meal just to get the toy and would sort out the refund later. I told her we didn’t need the food, only the toy. She insisted that if I placed the order, I’d have to take the food as well. I said fine, but that we’d throw it away because we didn’t need it. She then criticized that, saying it was ridiculous since “there are hungry people everywhere.” I honestly didn’t know what she expected me to do at that point.
I went ahead and placed the order through the app. About five minutes later, she called me back to the counter and said she had talked to her boss. As a “one-time special favor,” they would refund the second meal and give us the toy we hadn’t received.
While the issue was technically resolved, I’m incredibly disappointed by how it was handled. Lunch was ruined, and my husband and I were treated as if we were trying to scam the restaurant over a child’s toy. We weren’t upset that a mistake was made—we’re human, we get it. But the way we were treated throughout was unacceptable.
I will never return to this...
Read moreI got hired here. Worked there for a day. Let’s go back to the interview. The GM asked no questions. Rolled her eyes at my availability and then just told me to come back for orientation. Came back for orientation. Filled out my own tax paper because I know how to, she played on her phone the whole time. Barely talked to me. She brought out her scheduling manager ( honestly she should be the GM. She was the only person who even seems to care in the whole store). I got my hours for my first day. Came in and with my background I was ok just starting work. I have experience as McDonald’s management and I have GM experience. So the start of my shift was ok. I worked with the scheduling manager. It was just me and her for a bit. I will say that any time a customer had a problem they would openly talk about how dumb or stupid the customer was. When the night shift came it everything took a huge turn. Everyone was wear earbuds, girl taking orders upfront was watching Netflix and then getting mad at customers because she was missing things on their order. Then manager in the grill area sent a man home and pretty much made him walk out because he was wearing headphones (literally everyone in the store was) and that’s against the rules. So he said something about everyone in the store wearing them so why can’t he.. she lost it. She belittled him in front of everyone. Honest opinion. If I was her GM that would be the end of her career with me. She then talked about him for the next 3 hours of my shift. Between all of that going on. They kept pulling people forward and then just standing in a circle talking. I didn’t get mad til there was an extremely kind family that came through. They only got sundaes. The crew ran out of fudge. So we pulled the family forward. They waited outside for 18 minutes. Know why. They were standing and talking. So I finished their stuff and ran it out to them.
That night my Stepdad had a stroke. The next day I called off. I was helping my mom. They then sent me 19 messages. I was done. I can’t work for a place that can’t even get customer service basics down. No wonder no one wants to work there. Here’s the kicker. They NEVER paid me :) I know I only worked 1 days, but come on… really… the GM...
Read moreUpdate 12/2023. Ever since under new mgmt, it has gone down hill. Trashy, poor service, Rap music on level 10 and poor attitude from workers. Floors are dirty. Restrooms are horrendous. America is in trouble.
I don't really do reviews on a regular basis. This experience broke that trend. The same franchise operator runs several locations in the area. This one is the worst. The place is run by children. Stopped in tonight at 7:30. Nobody hardly inside. We ordered a BOGO 1/4 pounder. Order taker was same individual that had to make them (this wasn't the issue). Order maker sends them down the "chute". They sat there for 1 minute while "order tender kid" stands there and pleasure yaps with other DT employee. DT employee beggs this other kid to make her cones (all the while my 1/4's) were right there for the grabbing. So the kid takes 2-3 minutes to make cones, shakes and what have you for the DT. I politely asked if it would of been so hard to just of put them on a tray and he could of done a 180 and then make the cones etc. He procees to get loud with me and acted like this concept would of ruined his day. He said that he had to make the cones first because the DT girl was new. He tossed my order and requested a remake (which I did not demand). Making customers feel like they are the problem is NOT good business. If you're going to have people work, they need to be trained. When kids run the roost, this is what your're going to get. This place used to have a great P.M. manager, but this place has slid into the basement of hell. To think these kids want $15. What a joke. Covid Update: expect to wait 10-20 minutes in DT. Employees have NO "spark", and apparently no manager to light a 🔥 under them. Be aware if you...
