Culver’s — Restaurant in Peru

Culver's food is reliably good. No matter the location, it's consistently top shelf (since it's a franchise you might expect a certain uniformity, but if you've eaten at other fast food restaurants you know this isn't always the case).

The butterburger is really satisfying. The grilling of the patties creates a great flavor and texture. Choice of toppings and condiments should suit most tastes. The other menu items, like the mushroom and swiss burgers, are very good.

Fries and other sides are also uniformly good, even if some of the vegetable choices are a bit bland. Sweet potato fries are featured at certain times of the year, and they are a welcome addition.

The other big draw is the frozen custard. Cones, "concrete mixers," sundaes, cups of custard are fantastic, and a wide range of choices make for pleasant exploration.

We had a really disappointing experience at the Culver’s in Peru, Illinois. My parents ordered two sandwiches and a cod dinner with an extra side. While we appreciated the free coupon they provided for the wait, that was pretty much the only positive part of the visit.

My mom’s burger came out noticeably undercooked — it was pink in the middle, which really shouldn’t happen at a place like Culver’s where consistency is usually expected. On top of that, the cod dinner was missing the extra coleslaw we paid for. It might seem like a small thing, but when you’re paying for a full meal, the details matter.

Mistakes happen, but when multiple things go wrong in one visit — especially food safety issues — it leaves a bad impression. My parents are feeling frustrated and let down, considering the limited options in...

This was my 2nd visit to Culver's operated by Bobby Maier. My first visit was exceptional. Everything I hoped for. Including but not limited to, cutlery, ketchup, salt, tarter sauce, lemon wedge, ranch dressing. Amazing service, smiling faces, greeting and a big "Thank you" my 2nd visit was the total opposite. NO cutlery, ketchup, salt, tarter sauce, lemon wedge, ranch dressing. No Smile, No thank you, parking lot is messy. I had to do a double take at the sign just to be sure I was at the same restaurant.
