I really don’t like to give a bad review. But in this case I feel like it was deserved. There were 8 of us, which we called the day before to make the reservation for Sunday 8/21. Apparently they misunderstood and thought it was for the day before. The waitress was apparently not happy that we were there because as she was getting our menus, she slamming them down as she grabbed our silverware. She walked us to the table, put them down and just walked off. There does appear to be somewhat of a language barrier but it was more the attitude we received that was offensive. I thought maybe they were really busy as my back was to rest of the restaurant. Thinking maybe that’s why we weren’t being treated all that well. She checked on us once when we were almost finished eating. Any drinks we asked for a refill on, didn’t happen. I hope that this is taken into consideration for future reference. On another note, the food was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!! We usually go to the Keene restaurant but heard that Peterborough restaurant was better. We weren’t disappointed. Definitely was worth putting up with the...
Read more8/19/24—After picking up my stepson from his friend’s place and an unexpectedly interesting visit to the Franklin Pierce Homestead (because why not mix history with hunger?), my husband suddenly declared he was starving. We were tipped off about a place called Mi Jalisco, so off we went!
When we got there, I was surprised—the place is massive inside! Rows and rows of tables, and it was only around 11 a.m., so we practically had the whole place to ourselves. I decided to keep it light and tried the chicken soup, which was decent, but let’s be honest—I was really there for the margaritas. I sampled two different ones, and they were… okay. Not the best, not the worst—we were there for lunch so two were enough !
Meanwhile, my husband and son were happily devouring their dishes like they hadn’t seen food in days. I wasn’t too hungry, so I just stuck with my soup and enjoyed watching them eat like it was their last...
Read moreWorld Class style and design. Tasteful drinks and food. This used to be Locke-Ober in Boston which was considered a restaurant for men only. According to historical information about the establishment, which operated from the late 1800s until 2012, women were generally not allowed to dine in the main first-floor dining room until 1967. They were only permitted in the upstairs private dining rooms. This policy was a reflection of the "gentlemen's club" atmosphere the restaurant cultivated, catering to Boston's powerful businessmen and politicians. After 1967, the restaurant's policies changed, and it became a place for all to enjoy its classical French cuisine and historical setting. The space has since been redeveloped into a modern restaurant called Yvonne's, which honors the history...
