Mike & Ed's Bar-B-Q — Restaurant in Phenix City

I placed an order through Waitr (will never do that again) and there was an issue with the driver which resulted in the food not being delivered. I had just sucked it up and decided to place an order with another app for a different restaurant but then Jessica (I think was her name) called back and asked if I still wanted my food and if so - she would be more than happy to deliver it herself. I graciously and profusely thanked her for that and couldn't believe that they would go out of their way like that.

But, it gets even better folks - one of the owners personally reached out to me, sincerely apologized for the issue (though that wasn't necessary as this issue was of no fault of theirs whatsoever) and let me know that he was personally taking care of what he could on his end.

I cannot tell you how refreshing it is to see this superior level of customer service in this day and age. Not only is their food great - but each and every one of them truly care about their customers and reputation. I was truly surprised and nearly speechless at how far above and beyond they went to make sure I was happy and fed. Southern Hospitality...

We were here recently over the Thanksgiving weekend. The food was so-so. I ordered the beef brisket sandwich, which as very dry, the meat was cold the bun was cold and untoasted. The meat looks like and tasted like it came out of a supermarket deli case and not off a smoker or grill. I also ordered the fried mac and cheese thinking it was fresh mac and cheese fried as it turned out it was like store brought mac and cheese from frozen which they deep fried, it wasn't that good. My friend had the turkey it was sooooo dry and cold, looks like leftover turkey from Thanksgiving dinner that they recycled. I should have known when I entered the restaurant, a supposed BBQ place and there is no BBQ grill in operation at all no smokers working. How do you make BBQ without either working. Lots of deep fryers and such but no smoke and grill happening, hence the cold meats I guess. I would definitely not recommend this place if you want good AL BBQ. Look elsewhere. I usually avoid bad reviews, but I feel this one is warranted. We ordered Mike and Eds tonight through Waitr, we usually only go to 13th Street because other bbq places around here dont compare. We decided to give them a chance but now we are regretting it. All the bread was stale and crusty, we asked for no condiments on my childs hot dog and it came smothered in ketchup and mustard. My child cant eat all that yet so we had to wash off the hot dog. Bread on the hot dog was also stale. I ordered a 7.99 steak sandwich with no tomatoes, it had no tomatoes on it but it also had no pickles or onions only lettuce, cheese, and condiments, also it came with only the sandwich, no sides, for almost 10 dollars. I could be wrong but I thought it came with more. However, the steak was mainly breading and hardly any meat.
