I couldn’t just visit here, grab some drinks, and watch the game in peace without someone nagging me about a seat because they wanted their friend to keep sitting next to their other friends. If the person had left their jacket on the chair, I wouldn’t have sat there. But the chair was empty, and I’d been sitting there for a little over 30 minutes before the guy came back. There were also two more available seats right next to me.
Here’s the thing: if the person who was sitting there had asked me directly and respectfully, I would’ve had no problem moving over. But I’m not about to let someone who was never sitting there in the first place tell me that’s their seat like there’s assigned seating in a bar.
Since I have a rule that I go where I’m appreciated, not tolerated, I decided to close my tab and leave. If I’d stayed there and dwelled on it, I might’ve gotten angry enough to escalate something so stupid into something more serious.
There was another patron who stepped in and mediated the situation. I’m sure he was a regular and familiar with the guy—he might’ve even been his friend; I don’t know. But he seemed more reasonable. He told the other guy, “The guy has been gone for 30 minutes.” Since this isn’t my first rodeo, I’m almost certain he walked over and told the guy something like "I know man, I get it. he should've moved, but let it go for me". But whatever.
Now, listen—the bartender was super cool, and the service he provided was good. I don’t think he actually heard or saw what was happening because he was at the other end of the bar watching the game. Maybe he would’ve sided with the regular and put me out; I don’t know. But I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt.
Would I go back? Honestly,...
Read more2nd Street had fantastic service. The front of house staff was very friendly and accomidating. Unfortunately, there wasn't much else to really comment positively on. The food was your typical bar food fare, but nothing stood out. Likewise, the microbrewery's offerings were pretty bland. If anything, 2nd Street Brew House might be best thought of a brewery bubble dangerously close...
Read moreDecent priced drinks, 12+ beers on tap, and good amount of items on snack list. Wouldn't count on getting a full meal here or anything. Most of the snack items are already prepped and reheated (prob in a microwave), I suspect there isn't a full kitchen there. Good neighborhood bar to check out and grab some drinks, more for beers than...
