Just a great old-school neighborhood playground. Located at 2nd and Jackson. Theres a good range of playground equipment here for various ages of children to enjoy and sectioned into two areas, one for the smaller kids and one for the bigger kids. The whole playground is also covered with the "soft" rubber floor to prevent cuts, scrapes, and head injuries. The little kids have a newer smaller jungle gym, which is pretty similar to the old one it recently replaced, with a wobbly bridge, a slide, and plenty of appropriately sized climbing apparatuses to help develop gross motor skills and coordination...great for toddlers to about 6 yrs old. There is also a small swing set with 4 basket swings and a safe version of a "see-saw". Also in the younger kids section is a faux boulder made of concrete for climbing which is always think is a lot of fun, and one of those spinning seats...which in my opinion should probably be on the other side of the path in the bigger kids area...because of the speed with which it can spin and the ease of which you can fall off...but still always a hit with kids who think being so dizzy they're about to puke is fun. The section for the bigger kids has another, more challenging to climb faux boulder, a swing set with 6 big kid swings and BIG jungle gym that resembles a standing rocket ship with rocket fin slides and an upper enclosed rocket nose cone level. And more age appropriate climbing equipment. Inside the park is also a roller hockey rink and a basket ball court. Tucked in next to the basket ball court is a recently installed small "exercise area", with bars of different heights, designed for stretching and body...
Read moreThis park is just okay for a few reasons. 1) the kids that go to this park wild and not rhat friendly. We've been a few times and there are kids running up the slides when kids are trying to go down as well as kids playing with toys guns and not in a nice way. 2) there are kids that are way to old to be there just hanging out on the swings and mist of the time there language us terrible, especially for being at a children's parks! 3) this last time there was trash just littered all along the walkway and not to mention people were smoking wayy to...
Read moreI have been going there since my childhood. It is well maintained and kept clean and in good shape by closing the gates at 9pm. There are neighborhood streets bordering the Park on 3 sides and the Whitman Branch of the Free Library of Philadelphia on the 4th. The longtime neighbors care about their playground and do not tolerate riff-raff, vandalism or goings-on, ( many of them remember bringing their children, and grandchildren, to the park.) What else can I say; I think you should get...
