I loved this place. I am always looking for great Caribbean food. The restaurant's atmosphere was calm and warm. Our waiter Ms Dee was so kind and attentive to us. She was very knowledgeable about our menu and answered every question in detail in response to our enquiries about the menu. We went there yesterday Tuesday evening June 6th 2023 for black restaurant week and ordered delicious food. I also got the Island Wings their Signature Appetizer Served with Pineapple-Ranch Dip and Vegetable Slaw and it was very good. Omg the Vegetable Spring Rolls Served with Sweet Chili Plum Sauce crispy and flavorful. I am a mac and cheese connoisseur and self-proclaimed "King of macaroni and cheese"or at least everyone that has tasted mine has told me such however this takes me down memory lane when I was a child and all of those after church dinner when Grandma used to bake mac and cheese and other delectable delicious on the plate. words cannot express the love, passion and experience behind everything I tasted. we also enjoyed the blackened catfish on top of warm creamy mashed potatoes served with green beans. I also ordered The jerk Chicken which is a classic Jamaican dish and let me tell you this Chef has what it takes when it comes to authentic Jamaican cuisine. I have never ever had Jamaican jerk chicken so flavorful in my entire. Every spice stands out and is easily married with each other, the rice and peas was magnificent as well as the cabbage. the star of the show was the banana pudding cheesecake. I can't wait to come back to the future visits to try all of the other delicious desserts other dishes on the menu. I have officially made this my favorite Caribbean restaurant in Philadelphia all hands down. I personally don't feel that it gets any better than this! And I guess if it does then I guess I'm in for it and it will be my pleasure indeed Chef Carl Lewis came out to say hello and welcome us there, that was so very nice of him to do that. He has been a certified and licensed Chef for over fifty years and worked in Philadelphia at many of the prestigious restaurants hotels and etc in the city. I can truly say he is a Master of his craft and his hands are anointed to cook. Thank you so much Chef Carl Lewis your food has touched my life and your my inspiration to cook and be a better chef myself, I'm impressed! Words cannot explain how much I enjoyed myself .The music was also a vibe too. I really really enjoyed my experience here and will for sure be coming back for dinner at some point and also brunch too! Thank you again , Julian

The jerk chicken lunch is not worth it. The jerk chicken was extremely dry and hard. It had no jerk sauce on it…. I was giving it 3/5 stars because of the wings. But even the wings were a bit pink/red inside. I paid like $30 through ubereats to basically throw it away. Which is disappointing because I ordered here before and it’s was good that’s why I ordered again today. I called the restaurant and asked for a manager. A man had answered and I explained to him the the jerk was hard and dry and the wings were a little pink inside with the veins red. He says, listen this chicken was marinaded, double baked or fried (I forgot how its cooked but nonetheless it wasn't long enough however it was done) so he said its going to he pink inside... I ordered this before and it was FINE hence why like I said before I ordered it again! After telling him that I ordered here before (the rasta pasta and the wings) and the meat was fine he said ok hold on. I was on hold for 13 minutes and no one came on, so I hung up and called again. A lady picked up and I asked if I can talk to the manager.... she answered as if she's the manager. I asked her are you the manager because the last time I talked to a man and he said he was. She then said he's busy... why not just start off with that instead of faking. She took down my number and said she'll give it to the manager so lets see if he even calls. I think the most unprofessional part is that I paid for this food, it wasn't given to me for free. So if I'm coming with a concern/issue why get so defensive. Especially if l'm coming to you politely. And rectifying the situation isn't telling me to drive to the store to get wings when I ordered from uber. My whole order was messed up, not just the wings.

Caribbean food restaurant with very friendly staff. We walked in with no reservations right before the restaurant was swamped for due to dinner rush. The crowd is a mix of locals and it was very nice to see multiple ethnicities in one place enjoying scrumptious food. Menu has a variety of seafood and meat dishes even some pasta dishes. We ordered the jerk chicken which comes with rice, beans, cabbage, and white and dark meat pieces of chicken coated in a thin gravy. The meat was juicy, portion massive and meaty with flavor not spice so don't be deterred to order because you think it will be too spicy it is more about the spices then it being spicy. My partner ordered the stewed chicken curry dish and it was very tasty just wish the meat were more meaty then bony. The selling point here is that it is BYOB and the best item hands down is there corn bread. They give you a massive portion and it is made to perfection seriously wanted to take some home for later. The sides are expensive but I would skip the Mac and cheese very bland standard and not worth the $5 extra side and the collard greens were okay not the best. The cabbage the dishes come with is phenomenal and so is the rice and beans. I definitely want to come back when I am craving jerk chicken.

It's a little pricey but this is justified as the food and service are well worth it! I got the rasta pasta for dinner and the jerk chicken sandwich for next day's lunch. Both of these were amazing. The staff was also very friendly. I could drink the Jamaican sorrel juice forever...

Edit: 4 years later I got delivery and because the app called saying the restaurant was out of Codfish Fritters, I tried On the Bayou, their catfish and waffles which is amazing - it stays pretty crispy for a long time which is impressive. I recommend getting this one! I didn’t really have time to think it through though because I had already ordered Bananas Foster French Toast & Corn Bread, so it ended up being too much bread in the meal. The French Toast was pretty good but not the star of the show. The Corn Bread I unfortunately did not get to try fresh as I passed out from the other food but when I heated it up after waking, it was very tasty with the butter they gave melted onto it and a homemade Corn & Tomato Relish inspired from Southern picalillis (from Joy of Cooking) that I had on hand. The Jamaican Red Bean Soup was very tasty and I would eat it all the time if I could! I definitely recommend getting this. The Island Wings were very good as well - they aren’t crispy as they have no breading so don’t expect that. I’m excited to try the rest of the menu.

Edit 2: I ordered delivery again. This time I got Spicy Conch Fritters and Baby Back Ribs w Garlic Mashed Potatoes & Green Beans. The Fritters came with a lovely pineapple cream sauce, and were quite flavorful of their own accord, but the creamy fruity sauce is a welcome match for the crispy warm fritters. I was however disappointed that the fritters had lost some, but not all crisp, in the styrofoam box. I like the pickled vegetables that are included on the side, though they are a tad sweet. The Baby Back Ribs now…while unfortunately only 3 ribs, were probably some of the best I’ve had. Some crispy-ish meat on the outside slathered in amazing balanced bbq sauce with melt in your mouth meat on the inside. The Ribs set the bar high and the sides were unfortunately not on par. The mashed potatoes are flavorful but a bit too dry and could be more creamy or buttery imo which would probably also solve the moisture issue, along with added potato water. The green beans seemed to be boiled and were bland except for bits of onion in between and I’m not sure why. I get that the pork is so rich, that you want a side to balance it but they could have been baked or charred...
