I found them stunning, and the setting was pleasant. I submitted my application and received a call from a lovely woman who indicated that the property manager was experiencing difficulties in verifying certain details and sought to resolve the matter. I approved; we engaged in conversation (he predominantly spoke while not much listening), and we arranged a time for seeing. A charming and humorous man showed me to this studio comparable to a jail cell, featuring a 2x4 window that is hardly accessible. He escorted me throughout the building, showcasing the rooftop, which I admired, followed by the storage area, which I disliked, the gym, and the lounge area. I have never encountered a problem with paying for the first month, the last month, or the security deposit, as required. I am mindful of my spending, particularly over the past eight months, therefore I ensure I have $4,000 in my savings and checking accounts for potential needs. I engaged in a dialogue with the manager, who inquired about my reasons for wanting to relocate. My primary motivation was simply my want to do so. However, once he recounted the bizarre behaviors of others, I gained insight into his perspective. Unfortunately, while discussing my own information, he failed to listen and dominated the conversation. They denied me due to salary and credit. What they use to verify anything is unclear, but the next apartment I went to that day, my income was more than enough from 2 jobs and ridesharing, and my credit was acceptable, which confused me, but I think it was a sign to not go with them. I got a great car and a wonderful 1-bedroom, 1-bathroom Fishtown apartment with a washer and dryer, so it worked out nicely. Despite their bad studios and discourteous property manager, this is a...
Read moreI’ll try to make this review short and to a few points because I have a lot to say about West Lofts; both the building and the people.
The building is so beautiful and interesting. I love that you could feel the history and a lot of the character and feeling has been kept alive. It’s a beautiful structure and I’m glad that it was refurbished and done so tastefully. Even going to the gym feels like I’ve been transported back in time 100 years. All of the amenities are great and provide a good place to wind down or to host people over for an event. I’ve been to a party in the lobby and even had a little birthday party for my wife on the rooftop with the sunset in the background. Our apartment is the best, it has a nice view of the city and all of my family or friends that have visited have comment on how beautiful it is.
My experience with the management and rest of the team has been very positive. Everyone has been very welcoming and helpful. Every question, complaint, or request that I’ve had has been answered within hours or minutes. I’ve honestly never experienced that before I kind of expected to get put on a list to wait. I had a problem in my apartment and John the manager came up himself with maintenance to see that it was taken care of. The front desk folks are very nice and are always helpful and friendly. I was also surprised that there’s always someone there. The other tenants here are also very friendly. It’s a nice little community.
The neighborhood is pretty and very walkable. There’s a lot of local bars nearby and tennis courts. It’s also close to the life of the city so I never felt bored here. All in all, a great place to live and it’s provided the perfect environment to...
Read moreI moved in late July 2017 and moved out late August 2017. I want to give one star but because they let me cancel the lease, I am giving two star.
Cons: the curtains were not ready; one outrageous thing in my unit was workers outside were able to directly see me. no privacy at all. there was a giant whole in the ceiling, and I asked one of the workers to cover it. it was extremely dirty when I moved in. I vacuumed and wiped out the floor almost everyday. in the summer, you should watch out mosquitoes and other flying insects construction noise everyday, it starts early in the morning, and it lasts even in Saturday no bike parking place and 1st floor was not ready I wasn't able to open the microwave because they put it right at the corner. They told me they are going to replace it, but it was really silly mistake I complained about issues like construction noise, curtains, and microwave. I was expecting genuine apology or realistic resolution, but the manager told me that I should not complain about every little thing since I was informed when I signed the lease. But they never told me the building would be under construction and it would at least take a year to be finished. I decided to move out even though I had not lived there even a month. Of course, I paid for every single day I lived there. I think I left the unit in much cleaner state than when I moved in at the first place as I cleaned everyday.
Pros: in fact, when I moved in, there was no mirror in the bathroom but they installed it later on. I think bathroom was clean because it was a new unit. it seemed quite safe because there's someone in the front door most...
