Immensely a must try and definitely truly authentic Indonesian restaurant, a small-business restaurant run by an Indonesian-family with homemade and freshly prepared/cooked cuisine true to the very roots of Indonesia, absolutely! I am of Indonesian heritage, and have gone back to my roots country of Indonesia about 15 times in the course of my 30+ years of my lifetime, so I am aware! Reasonably priced as well as decent portions. Amiable staff and cozy Indonesian-inspired atmosphere and cultural decor. The dish of Pempek were out of this world authentic! Soto Betawi dish is one of my ultimate favorites, so I definitely recommend that dish! Not spicy.. unless you ask or request so... Dining area is clean and tidy, well-spaced. Parking, eh, may be an issue. Very challenging, to be honest. A lot of spaces may already be taken due to the residence within the surrounding community. But, you can keep trying! Djakarta is truly a hidden gem and hole in the wall type of restaurant that exists in the heart of Downtown Historical Philadelphia. If you want truly authentic and down to the roots of Indonesian cuisine, this is the restaurant for you. If I could put more than 5 stars, I would. Being that I am of Indonesian heritage, I know what true Indonesian cuisine tastes like. Do not expect the shallow Americanized sweet and sugary and less seasoned and less spicy type. Indonesian is definitely highly seasoned and spicy and packed with flavors. Prepare your gut to train and eat Southeast Asian cuisine at its finest. I would say this place is probably the best Indonesian food you can find in South Philly. The most authentic food and so many dishes to choose from. Everything is fantastic and delicious!

My go to Indonesian restaurant before Sky Cafe. I feel like their food has more flavors. However, portions are kinda small for me. Although I like their cucumber pickles, spicy chili peppers and sambal chili paste. They go very well with the dishes.

Very friendly staffs and small cozy family owned restaurant. Parking is tough here if you want to dine in, I always do takeout.
