Kocinao Restaurant — Restaurant in Philadelphia

Alright, it's been a while since I wrote a review but I HAD TO come on here for Kocinao! I've been looking for a good Dominican spot in Philly and I've tried a few and hadn't gotten around to Kocinao until today when I happened to be nearby and starving and craving some Mangu. First off, customer service is stellar as expected in a Dominican joint, my people are always so warm and inviting. The chick attending me was super patient as we were having difficulties with splitting payment. I got my tres golpes a mi gusto 'cause I don't eat salami. She offered me extra pieces of cheese in its stead and then another piece because she only had one egg at the moment. Loved it. The portions are also exactly what I expect from a Dominican restaurant. I went with the smaller size just because I wasn't sure how it would turn out but the small was pretty big and I'm glad it was. The mangu is perfection! So soft, flavored right, not dry at all! The onions are nice and juicy, too, because I didn't even know having dry onions was something I needed to be weary of until I ordered from a different restaurant in Philly. I also had a mamey batida and bay-bee! It was fricking delicious. I'd just like a larger size to enjoy it longer because I definitely gulped it down. I'm originally from NYC so mangus and mameys you can get anywhere and good ones, too. To go from readily available to having to shop around to see from where you can get the goodies is rough y'all, but I think you'll make it a lot easier on yourself if you just make your way to Kocinao first. It was a great experience over all the food and the service was great the juices natural amazing. The food was good. It tasted like I was back in the island. However the actual food took way to long come to the table it was about 45 min of a wait and it was a terrible wait time. Especially after the appetizers was already eaten overall I would go back for a quick bit to go and the drinks. The atmosphere was quiet it was a intimate place. recently visited your restaurant and I wanted to bring something important to your attention. While eating my soup, I found what appeared to be a piece of dishwashing sponge inside. I understand accidents can happen, but this could be dangerous if someone accidentally swallows it.

I was also surprised to see the item still included on my bill. My intention in sharing this is not to harm the restaurant’s reputation, but to help ensure extra care is taken in the kitchen so that this doesn’t happen to someone else in the future.

Visité su restaurante hace poco y quería informarles de algo importante. Mientras tomaba mi sopa, encontré lo que parecía ser un trozo de esponja para lavar platos dentro. Entiendo que pueden ocurrir accidentes, pero esto podría ser peligroso si alguien lo traga accidentalmente.
