La Catrachita Taqueria — Restaurant in Philadelphia

Since they opened this week I've had the chance to have both the regular and breakfast tacos and I can't recommend them enough. I've lived by this intersection for some time now and have tried every restaurant on 9th street and, as far as tacos go, theirs are just as good or better than all of them. Their tacos may be about $1-2 more expensive than some other locations but I felt the quality of the ingredients, preparation, and amount of food more than made up for the price difference. I've had the campechano, tinga, veggie, and breakfast tacos now as well as several juices and I am very impressed with everything and I can't wait to try everything else on the menu. I watched every day just how much work they put into rehabilitating a run-down and previously failing (as long as I can remember) store, turning it into a perfect addition to a bright and bustling block and I am so happy to see a business like this open in this specific location. First time trying La catrachita and it was great. This place is 24 hours which I thought was a plus especially for a night out on the weekend. It’s super spacious inside, they offer seating along the walls and outdoor seating. We ordered birria tacos w consome and birrira tacos w ramen. The broth was okay it was not flavorful at all. I was expecting a burst of flavors as I tried the soup but it was none sadly. The birrira tacos were good but as you bite into the middle, the meat inside of the taco was dry. My go-to spot for Mexican food in Philly and they’re open 24/7! Their birria tacos are easily some of the best in town, super cheesy, flavorful, and juicy. Definitely try the shrimp and chicken birria, both are🔥.

The real sleeper here is the Torta Cubana, you haven’t lived until you’ve had it at least once 😭. Portion size, flavor, and texture are all on point.

Service is always friendly, and the fresh juice options are great, the passion fruit is my favorite. Don’t skip dessert either, we tried an Oreo strawberry cake, and it was surprisingly delicious!
