Regular walk up customer. Slices are šÆ
But the 2 times weāve ordered delivery (once through Slices, tonight by UberEats) the pizzas have been mediocre, close to bad.
First time, we ordered a white pizza that had pulled chicken breast on it. It arrived, looked and smell delicious. First bite was a let down cause the chicken was beyond dry. Like hard and almost ādustyā feeling on my tongue. It really ruined the pie.
Tonight I ordered the special āFig-et about itā (I like white pizzas). Figs, prosciutto, burrata, caramelized onions. Sounds like my jam.
Driver handed me the box and it had some weight, awesome. Again pizza looked luscious. First bite I had to spit out. All i tasted was sweet sweet sweet sugar sweet. You know when something is soooo cloyingly sweet that it almost gives the sensation of drying out your mouth; it happens to me when I go down south and served Sweet Tea, and I need to drink water cause my teeth feel weird. So just like that. No salt, heat/spice, no tang, no savory herb flavor⦠Iām not sure if the plan was to replace the pizza sauce in equal measure with fig jamā- this was poorly executed. Fig jam should be an accent not the foundation. The crust seemed way too thin for the weight of all the toppings.
I had to give the remainder of my āza to a neighbor.
Ok, I concede. Eating dough heads is strictly at...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI found this place because of the google reviews- got a classic Jane Doe and my god it changed my life. This is the Best pizza I've ever had. Kindest people working there. Never disapoints. Their ingredients are fresh and top quality, their process is always on point, their pizzas are always ready on time, and their employees clearly love making these pies for other pizza lovers.
My favorite pies are the upstairs neighbor (pepperoni pizza with a honey Chipotle drizzle), the smokin doe Frazier (BBQ chicken), and the granny pannies (best pan pizza out there). I don't usually gravitate towards white pizzas, but the one with the sweet fennel sausage, ricotta, garlic, and spinach is also fire.
I've literally spent my last dollar from countless paychecks on a whole pie- and a handful of times when I didn't have enough money for a can of soda, too, they recognized my face and just gave me soda on the house. Their attention to the little details like that paired with their perfect pizza-making process just makes a person happy.
But please bring back the cherry Dr. Pepper! I'm not sure if it's off your menu forever or if it's temporarily out of stock. I tried it here for the first time though with the upstairs neighbor and I almost died from bliss. It's now my favorite soda, but I can't find it anywhere else.
Thank you...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHad a pretty tough time deciding on which two pies to go with as there are so many similar-ish options but each with their own character. Ultimately asked for help and went with Dough Joe & Grannie Pannies
Dough Joe: I'm a huge white pizza guy and this was just okay. I surprisingly felt like the ricotta was too soft to hold up the rest of the pizza in terms of overall texture. The garlic spinach was a nice touch. The sausage was fine-really nothing overly special. The crust is good but there's a LOT of it. We ended up buying extra marinara sauce and the garlic parm sauce for dipping-I really enjoyed the latter but some may find it a bit salty.
Grannie Pannies: The thickness of this crust was key- a nice thinness without being too floppy. The sauce was nice. Added some of their garlic powder, chili flakes, and truffle hot sauce which really put this slice over the edge. I was actually quite surprised they had the truffle hot sauce in the condiment section-would recommend (it is HOT!).
The prices for the pies were a bit of an eyebrow raiser but the pies were really sizable so I actually think they were quite reasonable. They don't have seating here but there are a few bars/brewery nearby you can...
