The Philadelphia Hotel Bella Vista worked well for me as I had a conference nearby and the price was reasonable. It's a nice accommodation, but it is not a hotel. If you like/need the amenities that come with a hotel (e.g. large TV, blackout curtains, multiple outlets, elevator, no squeaky wood flooring etc.), this place is not for you. When you stay here, you receive an access code for self-check-in. I'm grateful I could check in two hours before the actual check-in time. I was greeted by the person who assists guests (and who also lives in the house, I believe) and I was given a quick walk through my room. That was definitely helpful. My room was cute, clean, and charming. But also a bit impractical and I was constantly worried I may break some of the antiques in the room. But it had everything I needed for my stay. Whole Foods, Starbucks, and an ACME supermarket are in walking distance. The neighborhood is very safe and nice to walk around in and it only took 20-25 min by foot to reach downtown and the Convention Center. A very lovely and safe walk. There are a number of restaurants only a few minutes by foot from the accommodation; I really enjoyed "Tabachoy". I was again kindly assisted at check-out and could leave my luggage for a few hours before heading to the airport. Please keep in mind, this accommodation does not have an elevator. If you have mobility issues, I do not recommend this place. Overall, a good B&B option when staying in Philadelphia; I would say not as comfortable and convenient as a hotel but you support a local business. Uber to/from airport was around $30; Uber to Convention Center...
Read moreI stayed 2 nights in the "Autumn Mist" room, which were great. It's a nicely appointed semi-"suite," very comfortable and "homey" in a charming townhouse building.
This is not a luxury hotel with all the "amenities" like gym, spa, restaurant, etc. so don't expect that. It's a "country inn" type of B&B (although without the "breakfast") but right in the heart of Philly, on the border of Downtown/South. Great neighborhood, relatively quiet and safe, with the Italian market right outside your door a block away, which will provide you with all the coffee and breakfast options you need.
It's an old building, so you will hear the occasional creaking floorboard but that aside, I found it to actually be QUIETER than most hotels. No elevator shaft noise, no disruptive parties making a ruckus in the hall or in the next room, no housekeeping intrusions, etc. And my room was on the front of the building, right with South 10th Street directly below outside, and I heard very little noise. I slept soundly there.
The innkeeper Brittany was very nice and helpful, provided parking option guidance, very clear communicator, made access very easy and user-friendly. She has a very cute cat, who sometimes likes to wander around the common area hallways, so you should be aware of that (in case of allergies or extreme phobia of cats.)
Billing was easy, and personally I don't think you can beat the price. I paid $240 (plus tax) for two...
Read moreThis place is absolutely AMAZING!! I can honestly say that I have NOTHING bad to say at all in any way shape or form! It's beautiful! It's got an Amazing view of the Philly skyline from the Summer Breeze Suit! The area is very safe day and night. We parked our car at a parking garage and walked everywhere all different hours. I have NEVER stayed anywhere nicer to be honest! I think, for the area you are in and the beauty of this place the price is just right!
If your looking for a place to stay that you can enjoy a TRUE Philly experience, this is it!
I highly recommend this place!!! It is near many restaurants, bakeries, bars, shopping... Literally everything! There is a kitty there that I do believe lives with the woman on the first floor. He occasionally comes out and roams around. He's a sweet little man and he will gladly show you to your room. Such a sweet little fella! That was definitely a pleasant surprise!
Brittany is a very sweet person. She is who I dealt with before and after my trip. I initially wanted to rent the pink room , however, It was unavailable due to remodeling. So Brittney worked something out and we stayed in (what I now can say) the BEST room! She definitely hooked us up for sure! She is awesome!!
I recommend using the spothero app for parking. It's super easy, we parked on Washington Ave. I also definitely recommend the Morning Glory Diner for breakfast. It's just down the street...
