Max's Steaks & Hoagies — Restaurant in Philadelphia

At first my order I called in was ready as soon as I got to Max's. However when I was ready to eat my cheese steak. It was not what I order. Very upset at this point. However I called and spoke to the manager Rich. He offered for me to come & get a new one. However I was really busy & couldn't go back. So he told me apologize for the inconvenience and said when I could get back he would provide me with a $25.00 gift card. Well it took me a few days to get back there. I called when I was on my way and Rich wasn't there. No one( Mally) wasn't aware of my issue. She took the time to reach Rich on his private # explained the situation. She called me back said it was no problem and my gift card was there. I went to get it order the cheese steak once again my way. She helped walk me to my car and was very polite & kind. When I got home and took 1 bite, I had to call and thank her personally for getting my order. I appreciate there kindness & thoughtfulness. I would recommend them anytime. I don't eat out often. I ordered a cheesesteak hoagie on April 16th and paid $16. They told me they didn't have tomatoes, which was fine. However, when I got home, I found tiny bits of onions and only two to five pieces of old lettuce in my hoagie. Additionally, I waited over 30 minutes for it. I called the store, and the employee promised to make it right.

I returned on June 16th to try another cheesesteak. Unfortunately, the meat was unidentifiable — it was stringy, had a bad taste, and was full of fat. It felt so thick that it resembled shoe leather. The lettuce looked wilted and tasted terrible. I will never go back to this place again. No wonder there are rarely any customers; that should have been a red flag for me.

This business is scamming people out of their money, and it will ultimately backfire on them. You can't cheat people without consequences. This place is headed for failure. I recently visited Max's, and overall it was a pretty good experience. I was disappointed that they had changed the style of their cheese steak, but the new version was okay. The service was attentive and the prices were reasonable. Overall, I would recommend Max's to anyone looking for a good meal. Not too bad, not too good.

The whole time there, I kept telling my colleagues and friends that this was the "Great Value" Max's. Turned out I was somewhat correct because of how they changed the cheesesteaks. Ultimately, I think they should go back to the other style if their thing is cheesesteaks. If not, and they are aiming for that bar experience, then the way they have done things is fine.
