This used to be my favorite place, but like all other Northeast Philly Pizza restaurants the glory days are over. Maybe its the fault of covid, they can't find employees who care about food. Maybe they are cutting costs? Whatever the reason, the quality of several items have just gone so wrong. Mozzarella sticks delivered in tinfoil, in a blob of grease and broken breading, inedible. Fries soaked through with grease, not crunchy & fluffy as the menu states. I ordered mega fries, and they used maple syrup bacon... it was not a delicious combination. Mushroom appetizers were not washed before breading, because who doesn't like eating dirt? The thing that upset me the most was the calzone. I ordered mine baked. Most of the dough was so hard it was inedible. The calzone contained sauce, that mixed with the Ricotta cheese to make a blobby mess on my plate, and was not what a calzone is supposed to be. Will not give them any...
Read moreSat down to eat with my family on a Friday evening and there were only a few other people there. That being said service was prompt.i really likes the warm rolls, the salad was not just iceberg lettuce, instead it was mixed Romain & iceburg, and the bleu cheese salad dressing was great- maybe homemade? The croutons were definitely homemade, i loved them. We like the bruschetta and the mozzarella w/ red peppers apps. For the meal we ordered pasta primavera and pasta with Bolognese sauce. The hubby loved the meat sauce, but I found the primavera sauce was bland. It was slightly watery, had tiny pieces of broccoli, some carrots and at least a cup of peas on it. I love my veggies, so maybe a little more flavor to the sauce would have helped. I will try this place again, but I’ll try a different dish. Note, the menu is quite large, so you have the pizza takeout as well as full sit down...
Read moreWe've heard neighbors rave about Montesini and decided to give it a try. Since we were on the go and wanted something light to fill our stomachs, we opted for slices. We got the last slice of pepperoni and a slice with sausage. Overall, the ratios are nice with just enough sauce, cheese, topping. The dough has the perfect thickness. Sauce is decent not sweet slightly salty, cheese has just enough pull but not greesy. Pepperoni was decent and sausage is a bit on the saltier side. I was hoping for more from the dough. It was cooked well with a nice char on the bottom but it was dry and not very flavorful and lacked that chewy pull that I was expecting. Maybe because the slices have been sitting out for a while. Overall I come back to give them another try because maybe I just got the last slice. Give them a try and let me know...
