We’ve been regularly visiting new ridge for a few years and we’ve been consistently impressed with the food, drinks, and especially the service which is always friendly, helpful, and accommodating. We live in the neighborhood and it’s our go to spot for everything from casual happy hour snacks and beers to more upscale entrees and cocktails for our anniversary. Recently we’ve been going for Eagles games and there are ample tvs as well as a projector on for big games. It’s a place you can show up in a t-shirt for after work drinks, or get dressed up for a date night and feel comfortable either way. Their draft list has solid standards as well as great rotating and seasonal styles, and we have been really impressed with their cocktails which honestly stand up to some of the more cocktail-focused bars in the city, something you don’t see often at a brewery! Their cocktail menu is vegan (they use aquafaba in place of egg white) and they offer non-alcoholic versions of a number of drinks as well as an NA beer list. They regularly update the food menu which keeps it interesting for regulars, either with weekly specials or full seasonal menu changes, keeping a handful of standards on deck. Our toddler is an adventurous eater and loves to try new things, but it’s nice we can count on the mac and cheese which he always loves. Lately they’ve been doing Mac Monday with a deal on special Mac and cheese flavors. I’d love to see them bring back the special wing and hummus flavor because there were some big hits! Portions are usually generous, and we almost always leave with leftovers. The sandwiches come with really good house made chips and I appreciate having a side included if you don’t want to do the upcharge for fries. We don’t do brunch often but we have enjoyed it, they do a really solid Bloody Mary and Michelada. There are also always well considered vegan options at all levels of the menu (not just a throwaway salad); we took some vegan friends for the Super Bowl and they said the seitan wings were some of the best they’ve had in the city. We have been bringing our 2.5 year old since he was a baby and the New Ridge staff has been hospitable and accommodating at every age. It’s not a place that has kids running all over, but it’s definitely family friendly. There’s a kids menu with coloring page, high chairs, lidded plastic drink cups, and a family size bathroom. The restaurant is also situated next to Pocket Park- a cute and spacious courtyard area just outside the outdoor seating space- it’s SO nice to be able to take our kid right outside if he’s having a hard time or just needs a break to run around a bit. Pocket Park also hosts regular neighborhood events to check out, with drinks available at the New Ridge beer tent :) Thank you New Ridge for being part of the neighborhood and always making sure we have a great time!

Great brewery with great character, great food and great staff. Why? Breweries are a dime a dozen today. There are only a few ways to stand out. Exceptional beer, which is really difficult as there seems to be a lot of talent out there brewing. You could have exceptional staff/atmosphere, or finally exceptional food. New Ridge hits on all three. Food: when is the last time you had spiced octopus panni at a brewery? Raw Oysters (well maybe)? Steak tartare? These were a few of the items available. Tried all three of them and all were tasty. Judging by the photo uploads of previous menus, the menu changes. There was a well rounded selection of beers all of which appealed to me. Beer tastes vary so I'll leave you to your own tastes. Staff: I've got to call out Harrison the bartender. It wasn't slammed but plenty of people at the bar and he kept all the of the glasses full. Yet he had time to discuss the composition and history of each beer, eg., how each was named. Was gracious enough to give us some tips on which other breweries to visit in the area. 5+ stars for Harrison. The place was a little difficult to find as it's main entrance isn't exactly on Ridge. It's on the pocket park between the Dollar store and Santucci's. The sign is hidden by a tree looking from Ridge. Fun place, will good beer, food, and staff. I'll be back next time in Roxborough!

I wish I could give this restaurant a higher rating but we did not have a good experience in some respects on our first visit. We arrived mid-afternoon for a late lunch and they were not too busy which seemed promising. We were immediately seated and requested outside since the weather was nice. Our waiter explained that there were several people serving the patio and we could get anyone’s attention for help, which sounded great - we have had excellent experiences with other team-based-service restaurants. Perhaps you can see where this is going. After he left we sat for at least 20 minutes with our menus and glasses of water before he finally came back. He and other servers came out on the regular that whole time but it was basically impossible to get anyone’s attention. For example, a server whose table was right across from us came out 2-3 times during our wait but each time headed straight for that table and headed straight back to the door with not so much as a glance in our direction. I did manage to make eye contact with a couple of servers including our own when they were serving tables further away but they would immediately look away before I could wave them down.

That being said, the food itself was mostly good. We ordered the spinach artichoke dip and I particularly appreciated the sourdough for dipping since I’m allergic to corn so can’t do tortilla chips. I also ordered the ridge burger which was excellent - very juicy, delicious sauce, and a double patty so plenty of meat. The side salad was fine but skippable. My husband ordered the catfish sandwich with the hot sauce on the side - it came out on the sandwich. We suspect because that detail wasn’t conveyed to the kitchen. He ate it anyways since he didn’t want to have to wait even longer for another. The piece of fish itself was also disappointingly small, especially compared to pictures we’d seen online. Thankfully the check-ins were a bit better once we had our meal so we were able to quickly get the check and head out. Overall, a mixed bag. If we give them another chance perhaps we’ll try sitting inside to see if there’s a...

You’d think this would be a good place, but it truly sucks. This is the second time I’ve been here, and it was worse than the first time. We had 3 adults, a toddler and an infant with us. We walked in and it wasn’t crowded at all, so we sat immediately. The waiter took 20 minutes after the introduction to come back and get food orders, we couldn’t find him at all when water spilled everywhere and we needed napkins, food took over 40 minutes to get to the table, including the kid’s meal. The food was mid at best, and it is not worth the price at all. $16 for a chicken wrap and $4 to add fries to the side.

The waiter barely came to the table, and he wasn’t in the weeds at all; place was cleared out mid dinner. We waited around for 25 minutes for our server to ask for the check and a box. Another 15 - 20 minutes later, and we had to ask the host to run our cards for us. If I didn’t work in the restaurant industry as a waitress for years, this dude honestly would’ve gotten a mediocre tip. All 3 of us adults were bartenders/waiters and we thought the service was terrible. All-in-all we were there for 2 HOURS even though the place was barely busy. We had two young kids that were super agitated after sitting around for so long. To top it all off, as we were leaving, I saw our waiter sitting outside hitting his vape and on his phone. I wouldn’t care if he had some sort of urgency, but this dude wasted our time.

The literal only reason this place got 2 stars from me is that they are very, very kid friendly and before the building next to them was demolished, they did a lot of activities for children.

Just don’t come here, or strictly come...
