Run to a different bakery for your needs!!! I should have known by the way our tasting went that this bakery was going to be horrible! When I called to make our appointment I informed them that I had a gluten allergy and they assured me that they would set up 2 tasting platters one for me and one for my now husband. When we arrived and received the plates there was one flourless chocolate piece of what looked like fudge for me and my fiancé said all of his cupcakes tasted stale and the buttercream icing was oily. We were left to sit at a table by ourself to try the cake with little interaction by the staff. Unfortunately that wasn’t the worst part! We continued with them because our cake was included through them in our catering package from Company’s Coming hoping it was just a bad day. I called the bakery after leaving and suggested me buying my own gluten free cake for the top layer they agreed I did so and dropped it off to them. I ordered a naked vanilla cake for 140 people with a different filling in each layer along with an additional assorted dessert tray. I placed my original order with Natasha who is honestly the sweetest and then confirmed my order the Tuesday before my wedding again with Natasha and she assured me of my correct order. I honestly didn’t get to see my cake at the wedding until the cake cutting and immediately realized it was not my cake! It was white fondant which I absolutely hate and expressed that multiple times when placing my order it was also not a cake to feed 130 people apparently they took it upon them selves to make us a super small cake and a very large sheet cake which was never mentioned to us when ordering . When I reached out to the bakery I again spoke to Natasha who was again the sweetest and she told me that she remembered me and check my order again and confirmed it was written correctly and she wasn’t sure where the mix up was. She said she would have Amy reach out to me regarding the mix up. Well let me tell you Amy is the most arrogant, rudest person I have ever spoke to not only did she not want to accept their mistake she told me that she specifically wrote white fondant on my paper work in her writing in black marker. I never spoke to her ever prior to this conversation so why she wrote anything on my order is beyond me. Not only did she not want to accept her mistake she asked why I didn’t call the bakery that day if the cake was wrong, Umm at 9 pm when I first seen the cake while I am about to cut into it for my fake pictures that I had to take with an empty fork since I couldn’t eat any of the cake because it wasn’t what I ordered and I couldn’t be sure that the top layer was the gluten free cake that I paid for and provided to them. She was pretty much blaming me for the mix up like it was fault they delivered a cake that I did not order! Her offer to rectify it was to make me a gluten free cake for my first anniversary which I was confused because they couldn’t even make me a gluten free cake for my wedding. It has now been a month since my wedding and I have yet to get a response from Amy since our first conversation about the mix up, not that I ever want to here her cocky arrogant voice ever again. I have an attorney that will be reaching out to them since even though it was part of my catering package I paid for something that I did not receive. Do yourself a favor and do not purchase anything from this place you will be...
Read moreWe used the Night Kitchen Bakery for our wedding cake as well as all the desserts at the wedding. We arranged a cake tasting where we tried several different types of cake, frosting, and filling. The service was excellent, the cakes were all delicious, and the price was extremely reasonable.
For our cake, we chose a small display cake (which we used for the formal cake cutting) and then two larger sheet cakes which were cut behind the scenes for serving. We couldn't have been happier with the presentation of the cakes, the quality of the baking, and, again, the reasonableness of the pricing.
After we ordered the cake, we decided to use the Night Kitchen for other desserts as well. When I called and described what we were looking for, the staff had suggestions and ideas, all of which were helpful and wonderful. We had some dietary issues to accommodate, and all of those were handled with ease. Again, the prices were extremely reasonable, and all the desserts (including the ones chosen to work around the dietary concerns) were delicious. Given that some of the issues were allergies, they were also able to ensure that everything was packaged separately, so that one type of dessert didn't mix with the others.
On the subject of packaging: our caterer said that, since they weren't providing the desserts, they wouldn't take them out of the box and plate them (which was annoying). We simply provided the Night Kitchen with four platters, and they plated and then wrapped the platters for delivery to our venue.
I cannot speak highly enough of the quality of the baked goods, the service provided by staff, and the extremely fair pricing. I would enthusiastically use them again for any event I had in the area, and if I'm ever simply passing through, I'll be sure to stop in for a pastry and a cup of coffee. One of the best bakeries I have ever had the...
Read moreOur experience with the Night Kitchen Bakery was a mix of highs and lows, and it pains me to say that our mermaid-themed cake for our daughter's 6th birthday fell short of our expectations.
To begin on a positive note, the bakery's lemon curd cupcake and Phillies cupcake had left us with a great first impression. They were delicious, showcasing the bakery's potential for great flavors and quality. We were equally impressed with the accommodating nature of the owner Amy and the excellent communication via email. Their willingness to work with us and their responsiveness were truly commendable.
However, when it came to the mermaid-themed cake, we were left disappointed. We had high hopes, considering our prior experiences with their cupcakes, but the cake was, unfortunately, a letdown. The biggest issue was its dryness; it was almost as if we were eating stale bread. This was surprising and somewhat shocking, given the moistness of their cupcakes.
While the children at the party may not have noticed the cake's dryness, the parents certainly took notice. Some of our guests even jokingly commented that the filling jam tasted like a generic brand, which was another unexpected disappointment.
Despite the cake's disappointing taste, we have to acknowledge the bakery's strong points. The design of the cake was undeniably beautiful, capturing the essence of the mermaid theme perfectly. Additionally, the bakery's excellent communication and accommodating nature made the ordering process a breeze.
In the end, we left with mixed feelings. The Night Kitchen Bakery has the potential for greatness, as evidenced by their cupcakes, design skills, and customer service. However, the inconsistency in the quality of their products, particularly the cake, was a letdown. While we appreciate their efforts, we won't be returning for another cake...
