Ah, what a journey this place was. The food? Decent, I’ll give them that. But the prices? Oh, they must think I’m funding a culinary expedition. I’m used to getting the full works—meat, rice, peas, and TWO sides—for the same price. But here? You’re lucky if you get a sniff of one side.
Speaking of sides, let’s talk about the plantains I ordered. Or should I say, the plantain singular. I opened that container, and it was like the saddest episode of "Survivor." There were about three plantains in there, holding on for dear life like they knew they were in the wrong place.
And the seasoning? Let’s just say it’s as subtle as a whisper in a hurricane. It’s giving “we don’t want to scare the locals” vibes. I get it—you’re in an unseasoned neighborhood. But come on, don’t let that dull your shine. Throw some flavor in there!
Overall, the food is good, but it could be so much better if they embraced some proper seasoning and gave you portions that didn’t feel like they came off a kid’s menu. But hey, if you’re into overpriced, under-seasoned food with portions that’ll leave you hungry, this...
Read moreThis review is solely based on the quality of the food because it was ordered and delivered through GrubHub. I have to believe that the majority of you reviewers do not have a Caribbean background and if you do, your parents can't cook which is fine. lol With that being said, lets get to it.. lets start with the Jerk Philly Cheesesteak. It was very bland, you can barely taste the jerk seasoning. The bread was very soggy (although this could have occurred during the 10 minute ride from pick-up to drop-off). The mac and cheese looks and tastes like it came out of a Kraft box. Again, BLAND! And last, but not least, the beef patty.. YOU GUESSED IT.. BLAND! Absolutely, no flavor. As a Caribbean, I have been spoiled with an upbringing that included flavorful food with spice. This wasn't a good representation of what makes Jamaican food a desirable cuisine. Still rooting for you guys tho! Don't give in to the stale environment. I'm still on the hunt for on-the-go, good Jamaican food in...
Read moreWhen looking for a place to get food for a coworker's birthday, decided to try this place out since it's been on my list of Jamaican restaurants to try. Glad I did because it was good!
Got there as soon as they opened so the food was made to order and really fresh once I got it (took about 15 minutes for it to be done). Ended up ordering a larger Oxtail platter w/ Rice &Peas and Cabbage, large Jerk Chicken platter w/ Rice &Peas and Greens, a side of Mac & Cheese and a small side order of Jerk Chicken (just the chicken). Besides the mac which was just ok, the food was really good! The rice &peas were cooked well with not too much coconut, the meats were well seasoned and they gave good size pieces...Overall, we all really enjoyed the food.
Definitely recommend trying them and I plan to go back again to try more things...
