Truly artisanal. A cozy artisan bagel shop in South Philadelphia.
The shop: It's very cozy, giving you the feeling of a simple but well-maintained place. The layout of its space is very well thought out, and the stations are clearly visible, allowing you to see each process. Its strategic location is in a busy area with many residents, as it's a commercial area with many establishments nearby, allowing many people to access it. With its service system, it allows people to order and pick up their products very efficiently and quickly.
Service: It's worth noting that the employees are very familiar with the shop's vision and understand that it's a multi-generational company that cares about keeping its tradition alive. They provide excellent service; you can feel they go the extra mile to ensure you get what you want. They are very friendly and always have a smile.
Product: Understanding that it's primarily an artisan bagel shop, you know that all of their produce is fresh, made daily, and you can appreciate it in every bite, as well as the variety they offer.
Freshly ground coffee, they have a good variety of flavors to suit everyone's taste.
Prices: I consider the prices to be reasonable, considering the prices of other shops with similar services and products.
Overall: Considering all of the above factors, I consider Passyunk Ave Bagels to be an...
Read moreShould’ve listened to the mixed reviews, but I decided to order anyway. Spent $37.39 for a dozen bagels and two 8oz tubs of flavored cream cheese on Caviar.
I requested any variation of about 6 bagel flavors and only received maybe a single bagel that fit into those parameters (which I can accept, since I ordered after 11am). They even added an onion bialy instead of a bagel, so I assume they were scraping the bottom of the barrel. The bagels were hard, stale and quite frankly not worth eating.
The two tubs of cream cheese were about 3/4 full or less - and were by far the highlight of the order. The scallion cream cheese I’d highly recommend but the pesto not so much - you can taste that they use a very average store-bought genovese pesto to mix in.
May give them another shot in the future, but this was a terrible...
Read moreI cannot complain about this place enough. If you’re looking for good coffee and food, this is the place to go. If you’re looking for great customer service, walk literally anywhere else in the area. I visit Philly Bagels once a week because it’s next door to my boyfriend and he loves their iced chai- and I leave pissed off everytime. The employees are rude and inconsistent with their pricing. Usually there’s a woman named Jarely there. The first time I interacted with her I thought she was having a bad day, but I’ve now realized that’s just her personality. They shut down the espresso machine 20 mins before closing on a regular basis and do not answer the phone after 1pm. I hope they go out of business and another bagel/coffee shop opens up in...
