What a great addition to east passyunk Ave. Before I get into detail, I just have to say that I can’t wait to go back to Ocho Rios. The owners have created an inviting space, it feels warm and refreshing compared to the cafe that was previously in this location. (Sorry, Plenty, but Ocho got you beat.) We ordered 1 chicken patty, 1 beef patty and salt fish fritters to start. The patties were so light and flaky that I thought they would fall apart in my hand, but I was wrong. They stayed completely intact, had amazing flavor and went so well with their ocho jerk sauce. Ok but these salt fish fritters… ORDER THEM!! My boyfriend said “this is everything I have ever wanted a fritter to be.” I included a picture of them, but they look even more appetizing in person. They are crispy on the edges and light and soft in the middle. They’re really something special. Next time I’ll try the vegetable ones. The two of us shared the mango chicken entree that comes with 2 sides- we picked Mac and cheese and the 3 green mix of collard, callaloo , spinach. This plate was beautiful, I wish I took a pic but we dove right in. The chicken was on the bone, full of flavor. The greens were cooked perfectly, stewed in coconut milk, I believe. The mac and cheese was kinda sweet and very creamy with a crispy baked top, I really liked it. *side note- they are BYOB so stop at the bottle shop down the street before you go to Ocho.

I rarely write reviews, but I just had to about this place. My wife and I love to explore Philly's food scene, and we've hit a number of great places, but we absolutely LOVED Ocho Rios. Our server Dan provided some of the best service I've ever had in any restaurant. He made the experience much more enjoyable. But lets talk about the food.. wow..the food was absolutely amazing. We ordered the Jamaican jerk wings, my wife ordered the Oxtail Stew and I got the Curry Shrimp - the portions were generous and you can just taste the homeyness to it. I am not kidding when I tell you that everything was cooked to perfection, and each bite was so incredibly flavorful. The owners are also so sweet, following up with us and asking how everything was. If you are ever in the East Passyunk neighborhood, you HAVE to stop by this place - you will not be disappointed. Plus they just got their liquor license and their cocktails are fantastic! My wife and I live in Germantown and we will absolutely go out of our way to come back here! 10/10, by far one of the best dining experiences I've ever had!

The ox tail was fall off the bone, tender. It came served on a flat plate with a few vegetables into the stew and the sauce from the stew was very rich, yet neither thick nor too thin. The rice and beans is very good and you can taste the coconut flavor. The only recommendation I would have there is that the rice and the beans we split, because the beans cause the rice to clump up and you wind up getting big bites of beans. The three greens on the side were absolutely delicious. Full of flavor You could taste the flavors of the coconut, the onion, and the cumin, and they were crispy, perfectly cooked. There was even a hint of spice to them that made them pop. Really cool, the server accidentally brought us plantains and actually left them for us to enjoy even after realizing we didn’t order them.

The food here is Amazing and Diverse...The decor is very inviting and the wait staff were attentive and friendly..and knew what they were doing! I ordered the Jerk Chicken with sides of white rice and Mac n cheese! Let me tell you...the Jerk Chicken was done to Perfection and serving was a large portion for the money. It was served hot...but not enough to burn your mouth. The spices were definitely different...I guess spicy/jerk? I'm not sure what that means exactly being this was my first time ever having Jerk Chicken but now that I have I will be back for more! The menu included things I'd like to try on my next visit...like Oxtail stew...or so many dishes with Shrimp...too many to mention here...or maybe something with Goat meat? I can't wait to try everything on this fun and interesting menu! Oh...and the Prices!!! Talk about getting More than you pay for...I was actually surprised...it is not expensive at all...very fairly priced, based on the size of the portions...like the huge pile of the delicious Mac n Cheese I ordered!!! I would definitely suggest that you take a date or your spouse to this Newly Opened addition to the East Passyunk Ave corridor!!! I think you will find this Great New Restaurant as Great as I did! PS. I have eaten at some of the best restaurants throughout the US and consider myself to be Quite the epicurean ! This place, although brand new...will, at some point be mentioned in some Gourmet Magazine or win a place in a...

Ok. Mixed bag here. Was looking for a Caribbean restaurant and this place was recommended. Menu items looked good. Gave them a call at 730pm on a Saturday for a take-out order and was told it would be about 20min. Showed up at 745pm expecting a short wait, paid for my food, and had a seat. I did not walk out of that place with my food until 830pm… the restaurant was neat, clean, and comfortable, staff was very friendly, but that wait was unacceptable. I got the Curry Goat, which was delicious, just like my auntie used to make, but it was so hot I burned myself. The sides I got (rice and beans and Mac and cheese) were just OK and were a little cold. I also ordered the Jamaican Curry Tofu for my husband, with rice and beans and greens for sides, and everything was just OK, and on the cold side. Overall, an underwhelming dining experience. If the curry goat wasn’t so good, I wouldn’t go back. But, I’m curious to try their Jerk Chicken, plantains (which they were out of when I ordered…), and maybe some patties. I just can’t be TOO hungry if/when I go back if it’s gonna take an hour...
