One of My Fave S.Philly bar/restaurants on Passyunk Ave. I recommend this place to everyone & take alot of my people there to have a fun, relaxing meal & always feel comfortable. They now have an outdoor tent which I would only sit in if far away enough from other patrons. When I went the other night it was before 8 pm and they said the kitchen closed at 8pm but we could sit & order. They also sat us directly behind the table w 2 other ladies. I moved us to the other end near the opening and far enough awY from other patrons. I thought that was the "Norm"?? 2 weeks ago they were open until 11 pm or midnight I called and went w a friend ??? There are a few problems I have encountered in the many years I have been going there. The 1 is inconsistency.. Most of their food is Amazing & I usually always get a few of the same items- including the top neck raw clams dozen.. A few times I have gotten a bad clam or 2- I ysually don't say anything.. But 2 were really bad & looked it.. & I tried anyway.. It's a tastes that ruins everything else.. I was unable to finish the Salad I ordered- it's sooo good like a small antipasto, but again often not consistent. I also ordered Garlic Wings.. I usually don't order wings there, just clams, salad & pizza or Italian Dish. The wings were burnt and hard. I wrapped them and took home & still couldn't eat them. I ended up stripping them off bone and giving them to my dogs- disappointing... I love the 5.00 Strawberry Margarita on rocks w Salt.. I often get it served without salt even when I specify & the last 3 x they had no Strawberry mix??? Another issue I always have w them, especially now during Covid is that they ONLY accept 💵.. That has been a problem several x especially when dining w others that often don't carry that much cash.. They do have ATM on location, however last time I went w a friend 2-3 weeks ago-- it was pouring torrential rain & their ATM was broken. I am permanently disabled & had to go 4 blocks away in a downpour and paid for my friend & I.. Then she sent me her 1/2 via cashapp, which is also part of Square. It is very easy to take any other form of pmt, esp as a largecestablishment and during Covid when many people don't want to handle or pay w cash. I am a Non Profit Large Cat Rescue/ Sanctuary & I have 7 ways to pay without actual 💵-- so pretty sure a large establishment can come up w at least 3 ways except 💵. If not it should have more ATMs than 1 which has been out of order several x..??? Consistency, Convenience, Social Distancing Practices, & esp Cash only policy need to be evaluated and keep up with the Changing Days.. Sad to have had to write this 1/2 negative review. I still gave them 4 🌟because when they are Good they are Excellent.. If food was more consistent & they were able to change w the daily changes We are All trying to do our best during this Crisis time and I think it is very important that if We Do Chose a Place to spend our limited Funds that Supports Us & Change some things to Keep Up w the changing times. Still love this local...
Read moreLet me start out by saying that the three stars is solely for the food. The pizza is one of the best I ever had. The food was so good here that we all agreed It was one of the top in Philly. The service (minus the bus boy who was fantastic) was awful. Our waitress who never gave her name, never put it on the check was hands down the worst I have had in years (middle aged white girl). I worked as a server and this person was just bad. It took over 10 minutes for her to come to the table. Asked our drinks, didn’t write it down, then walked away even though we wanted to order food. 10 minutes later comes out with drinks but forgot some lemon that was asked for to not return without it. When we got our pizza it was the wrong one ordered. Again taking another ten minutes to check in and realize she ordered the wrong pizza. Never apologized. We wanted to keep drinking and she never checked back to take more orders. As we were wrapping up she encouraged us to go across the street and get ice cream instead of trying the desserts on the menu. What business encourages you to go somewhere else? As she tried to clean up the table she split an entire glass of water on two people and didn’t apologize or ask if everything is ok. When wrapping up our pizza she throw the box into the split water all over the table. She then ha died us the check that had the wrong orders on it. Absolute awful. I wanted to rate 5 stars for food but the service was so bad I may only do...
Read moreCASH ONLY – Just a heads-up, this wasn’t clearly posted anywhere that I saw, so I want to make sure it’s the first thing you notice. I visited this spot because I’m a big fan of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives with Guy Fieri, and I was excited to try it out. The restaurant has a cool, laid-back vibe with both indoor and outdoor seating, and the outdoor area is dog-friendly, which is a nice bonus. We started with the honey hot baked wings. They had a great flavor and were fall-off-the-bone tender. That said, I wouldn’t call them “jumbo” as described on the menu—they seemed more average in size. I ordered the Chicken Parmesan, which was a bit disappointing. It resembled more of a chicken patty topped with sauce and cheese, rather than a traditional cutlet that fills the plate. The sauce was runny and on the sweeter side—not really my thing, though that’s on me for not reading the menu more closely. The entrée only comes with either linguine marinara or a vegetable side, not both, which feels a bit stingy for the price. My girlfriend ordered the Eggplant Rigatoni, which was advertised as spicy but really wasn’t. The portion size was also smaller than expected. I guess we went in with high hopes—I was expecting more of a “Nonna’s kitchen in South Philly” kind of experience. Overall, the ambiance was nice, but the food didn’t quite live up...
