The Chilly Banana — Restaurant in Philadelphia

What an absolute neighborhood gem. We stumbled across this lil dessert place while shlepping around in the sweltering heat. My companion and I shared a 'plain' frozen banana with whipped coconut cream, plus raw walnuts & homemade chocolate sauce. There's a lot of different combos and toppings to choose from, though — sauces, fruit, nuts, sprinkles, etc.

It was absolutely delicious — very banana-y, not too sweet, super-creamy, yet not nearly as filling as dairy-based ice cream. I'm about as far from veganism as culinarily possible, but I could (and will) absolutely go back. $7 might seem a lot for the base, but it is a very generous portion that even the two of us couldn’t finish. The Chilly Banana is one of the best places in Philly!!!! Perfect treat for any day and flavors to make anyone happy! Even though I’m not vegan (and am a huge ice cream lover) I would pick their banana whip sundaes over most any other kind of ice cream any day 🍌

It’s such a weird little place. When you walk in it feels like you’re standing in front of a house, the doors to the inside were closed so we placed our order at the window. But had we not caught the person standing there, we would’ve easily assumed they were closed. The desserts were decent, expensive for what they are, and the menu on the wall was hard to read as it was scattered mess.
