Just as a preface, I wanted to like this place. The owners have quite history in the Philly's restaurant industry and I hoped that it would carry over to The Jim. Unfortunately, it did not pan out. I found the area around the bar a claustrophobic -- to the point where it was a little difficult to get around one side of the bar. The lighting didn't help with that feeling, unless you were planning to roleplay as a spelunker. I'm not confident that even the bartender could see what he was mixing.
Speaking of, I do feel sorry for that bartender. The cocktails on special were all multi-item (3-4+) affairs that from their taste were about as uninspired as their tired reuse of the "jawn". The beer list was diverse, Vermont's Von Trapp, Connecticut's Black Hog, but lackluster in any real standouts.
The front of house staff was excellent, despite the deck being stack against them so heavily. I do not envy anyone that would have to serve a cramped 20+ seats while essentially blindfolded. Maybe batching the drinks should be a requirement there.
On the whole, I'd skip Jim's for another restaurant in the...
Read more6/15/24…It’s been awhile since we have been to the Jim. Their menu has been updated and their food is so very good. We had the kimchi dumplings, the chicken wings and the Korean chicken sandwich. Brian, our awesome bartender, makes a great spicy jawn (margarita). I still think the Jim makes them the best! So happy that we were able to spend some time at The Jim!
8/2/22...It was so nice here, I wanted my son and daughter to see the place and sample the food and drinks. We ordered the beef noodles, the fries, Korean wings and dumplings... everything was delicious! Caitlynn, was bartending and is really nice.
Our first time visiting here. We sat, inside, at the bar. We met Caitlynn, the bartender and she was very busy and very nice. I had the spicy jawn, which is a spicy margarita and it was delicious! My husband tried the pale ales and the food we ordered was really good. We had the original wings, the pork and veggie dumplings and an order of the most delicious french fries. We look forward...
Read moreI have tried many times to love this bar. As a local the first time I came and Brian was at the bar I had a great time and thought I had found my new spot. However, every time I have gone since the service and experience have been abysmal. Staff, particularly the brown haired mustached bartender have ignored me while pouring themselves or girls they are hitting on drinks, shot me dirty looks for asking for food, and have charged me for more drinks than I ordered then offered rude remarks when I have requested to be charged correctly. I have been over a dozen times and have tired very hard but I can no longer in good conscience recommend this bar. It’s a shame considering that the bar has so much potential if only it was staffed with professional and...
