The food is superb! But they have some kinks....
I was excited to have an Indian restaurant open in the neighborhood: seeing it is one of my favorite foods. I called ahead for a table for 4. The call was easy and pleasant. When we arrived there were only about 8 guests at 3 tables. Two of the guests were just leaving.
We were greated warmly by the server and then not so warmly from a man we later learned was the owner. There seemed to be confusion over which table was ours, even though I called ahead and they were mostly empty.
The owner then seemed to be put out by the fact we didn’t have 4, but now only had three. He offered us two tables, one which was smacked next to another table full of guests or one on the other side that was not set and still some what dirty. He cleaned and set the table and instead of bringing menus and leading us to the table, he just walked away and signaled to the table and said “go ahead”.
Ok.
The server was efficient, pleasant and seemed sympathetic to us because he recognized the owner was not having a good night. We ordered and the food came out quickly. We noticed the owner acting a bit unsavory to other guests. After a while The owner seemed to be warming up to us, so we thought, ok, after a rough start, this may not be that bad. Maybe he’s having a bad night?
One of us got the incorrect dish, but when we alerted the server, he took the dish and had a new one fixed with no question.
The food was hot, the chutneys delicious, the naan was the best I’ve had in quite a while. I had coconut chicken, the meat was cooked just right, and the sauce had the perfect level of spice. No additional condiments needed.
As we were wrapping up the server brought us all to go containers, and brought us all a large side of rice to go. Wow. We thought he’s closing the deal, making up for the earlier attitude from the owner. Until the bill came...
When he dropped off the bill, I noticed each side of rice was $5. There was an unexpected extra $15 on our bill! We brought this to the owners attention and he said we had asked for extra rice. When in reality my one friend had asked the rest of us if she could The the extra (leftover) rice home. The owner then agreed to take off the $15.
I have mixed feelings about this place, but they are brand new and the food is a good quality. All in all it wasn’t a great experience. However, the food is very tasty and I would most definitely order take out from them. It seems like they have some kinks to work out with their quality of service. Again, I will definitely get take out sometime, but will give them about 3-4 months until I bring...

The coconut chicken, the Chile chicken, the lamb samosa all were excellent. The palak paneer is so full of flavor and our food was served with basmati rice. Thank you for your wonderful food!
Update...Sept 2021... Recently did a takeout order and the food was really good. Ordered cheese naan, vegetable samosa, paneer Tikka masala and my new favorite...the Daal Making...delicious!
This restaurant is new to East Passyunk Avenue and we recently had gone here for dinner. We were greeted by our server, Riaz, who was very helpful in answering our questions about the menu. The place is clean, the food is delicious and we plan on going back to try other dishes. We had a crisp bread served with 3 sauces placed on our table. The sauces were amazing. We ordered the veggie samosas, the chicken curry, the butter chicken and the lamb korma. It was served with basmati rice and we also had the garlic naan. Everything arrived hot and was delicious! We opted for the rice pudding and the gulab jamun for dessert. Really, really good.
11/18/23. Went with my son for an impromptu dinner. We had chicken korma, butter chicken, palak paneer and the best freshly made onion naan. The food and service is excellent. Thank you so very much for a delicious dinner!
Most recent visit 9/21/24…I had always wanted to eat in the patio of the palace of Indian. It was so very nice. The food, as usual, to me, is so very good. Fresh, and full of flavor. We shared a vegetable platter, chicken Shahi korma, lamb tikka masala, lamb karahi, palak paneer and onion and garlic naan. The portions are very generous, the food is fresh and has so much flavor. I especially love their onion naan and palak paneer…it’s absolutely amazing. Thank you, Palace of Indian, for a most...
Read moreNot welcoming. We requested for a bigger table because we felt the one we had is not comfortable and they rejected our request and let the customer go instead. I have never seen a management behaving such way to the customer. Felt like If we were Americans they would have “happily” provided us a bigger table.
Reply 1: Just like the way you feel that we should support Indian business, you should have also behaved the same with your customers who help you to have a successful business. Hope you guys have learnt not to be sarcastic and egoistic in such a way that hurts your customer. You could have resolved the seating issue in a respectable & dignified way rather than being rude & full of ego that you own the restaurant and we would totally understand why. We all are educated and can smell disrespect & sarcasm from a mile away. If the tables were full we wouldn’t even have made such an request and yet you still insist that you wouldn’t want the customer to have a comfortable seating. Hope you change your attitude towards where the customer and business...
