The Pub on Passyunk East — Restaurant in Philadelphia

5/27/25… consistently delicious food is what makes us opt for this pub… along with Pete, always taking the time to stop and catch up. Of course we had our usual, the nachos, the chicken sandwich and the Pope burger with a change up of sweet potato fries. Delicious! As always!

8/24/23…What do you do when your refrigerator breaks? You head over to the Pub on East Passyunk and have a great dinner starting with Candace, our server, who is so very nice and you add in the most delicious nachos, chicken sandwiches, Pope burger and fries and chicken fingers and Pete’s awesome chicken wings and always a “hello” from Pete and everything is so much better. Thanks Pete and staff. Your food and friendliness is awesome!

1/13/23…Still love their nachos, chicken sandwich, pope burger and now I can add their chicken wings to one of my favorite foods! It was my son’s birthday and Pete was awesome enuf to send out a candle on his sandwich. Thanks Pete, it will always be the small gestures in life that make you remember a place! You put a smile on my son’s face and that is awesome! Great margarita also😊!

1/13/22 Just had a couple of cocktails and a nacho, a chicken sandwich and a Pope Burger for my son's birthday. This is still one of our favorite places to get a really good cocktail and an awesome meal. Thank you, Pete and staff!

Updated review 5/12...Just ordered take out and the food is still delicious as usual. We had nachos with chicken, the Pope Burger and the chicken sandwich. Love that they use eco-friendly containers.

A really nice pub/restaurant with a friendly staff and good food. Our personal favorites, the nachos, the chicken sandwich, the burger and the fries with crabmeat and cheese. I recently went for their weekend brunch and wow that menu is great also. The chicken fried chicken, the breakfast burger...delicious. One of my favorite places...

Some meals leave such a strong impression that all thoughts of snapping a photo just vanish—and that was my experience at P.O.P.E. The cheeseburger was truly next-level: with aged cheddar, tangy pickle relish, and a bun so pillowy-soft it was like a cumulus cloud was the main ingredient. The sweet potato fries were equally memorable—crisp on the outside, perfectly sweet, and paired with a sweet-spicy sauce (the name escapes me, but it was spot-on).

I visited in the afternoon when the atmosphere was relaxed, but it felt like a great spot for groups. The vibe was easygoing and welcoming, with beautifully crafted mixed drinks featuring intriguing ingredients. Unsure what to choose, I decided to just close my eyes and point at the board, which led me to the Bees Knees: ginger, lemon, honey, gin, lively and buzzy for $11.

When they asked how everything was, all I could say was “wow.” The menu is short and meaningful—nothing there without a reason, and the care the team puts into their work is obvious. Even the patrons at the bar made an impression; on my way out, I was wished a good day, which topped off the visit.

P.O.P.E., thank you for keeping that sense of mystery, originality and making food and hospitality feel special. I’ll be back—and next time, I just might remember to...

I was in the POPE Friday night and decided to pick up the tab for me and my 3 other friends. The waitress gave me the bill which was $120.47. Without a thought I threw a $35 tip on there. My girlfriend the next morning fished out the receipt and told me that they had already added a tip to the $98.25 bill!

What is your policy for automatic gratuity? Do you often give checks in the dark room without explaining you threw in extra charges on it? I have never had that done to me since I have been going there (and yes I remember when it was the Pyramid bar). I asked 4 different servers if this was "normal" and all them thought it was extremely deceptive and just awful.

Enjoy your $60 total tip on my $98 bill, it is the last time I will go there. Also my friends (who are also local) said that they would not go back.
