Triangle Tavern — Restaurant in Philadelphia

I’m not ever the type to go out of my way to write a poor review of a business but my group had such a bad experience here over the weekend I feel it is warranted. We came for a late night meal during a recent trip to Philly, and our server was so incredibly rude and condescending that it ruined our whole night and experience and left a group of 5 people genuinely questioning what we did so wrong to be treated the way we were.

From the moment we sat down our waitress was cold, not friendly, and condescending when asked literally any question. My partner inquired about what was on one of the sandwiches as the menu had 0 detail, and our waitress paused for numerous seconds and just stared at her before stating “roast beef” acting like we were stupid to wonder if a sandwich comes with anything on it other than meat.

Before our order was ever even put into the system, I made a conscious effort to inform the waitress that we were placing two separate orders so we could receive 2 checks and she instantly told me she couldn’t split the bill. Not sure if this is the actual policy of the tavern and if so, it is what it is. But as our order was literally hand written on a booklet, I couldn’t see why she couldn’t just put them into the system as two separate orders as again, I made an effort to tell her this at the start of the whole interaction.

We sat here for probably over an hour and our waters were finished within 10 minutes, and not once did she stop over to ask how we were or get us refills. We got not one refill the whole time we were there.

The cherry on top was at the end of the night, one person in our group asked for take out boxes and the check, and did not previously hear our server when she stated she couldn’t split the check because she was talking to me at the other end of the table and it is a loud bar (even our server said “what” to us about 20 times when taking our order.) She asked to split the bill and our waitress looked so disgusted it was actually laughable and said in the most snarky manner that “I can’t split the bill, pretty sure I said that earlier.”

Will quite literally never return here. I have never had such a negative experience with a waitress in my life. Our group was nothing but nice to her from the start and she clearly should not be interacting with people if she doesn’t have it in her to answer simple questions from patrons that have never dined...

After reading many great reviews about Triangle Tavern, we went out on a Saturday night. This place is my new favourite place for vegan grub!!

It looks like a typical Philly dive bar. When you go in, they have a very large bar area, and the restaurant area is separated from the bar which is nice if you want to eat and not be in the bar scene.

They have a small-ish menu, but all the items are perfected. I would say 50/50- half vegan, half regular choices, great for groups of people because lots of choices. For a Saturday night, I was blown away how fast the service was. Appetizers came out fast, and the waiters all worked together, and no table was left waiting for anything- drinks never ran low either.

Let me say how amazing their vegan wings are- THEY ARE AMAZING. I have tried vegan wings for years at many places, and this place nailed it on the head the best. My husband who eats meat, even said, he would take these wings over a regular meat wing even. The sauce was perfect, spicy, but not horrible spicy, and had a nice buttery taste to it. The wing texture was so darn close to meat it was scary, but it satisfies you. Best vegan ranch I have ever had anywhere too was found here.

The vegan cheesesteaks where just as amazing as the wings and we both ate every last cheesy goodness bite. The staff was really nice and we got checked on by not only our waiter, but others as well. This place is amazing- lots of great food that is veganized, done right! We will be back many many more times!

Please disregard the below review that I previously left. Ever since I had the below issue at this professionally ran tavern, Tom (who is the manager) has given me some of the best experiences that I have ever encountered as a consumer. Tom is professional, kind, concerned patient and just an overall great manager. Because of him I can continue ordering my vegan wings & french fries that I enjoy sooo much!!!! Thank you Tom, I appreciate you so much!!!!

I am a loyal customer and I always order 2 orders of vegan wings and vegan cheese fries. The portion sizes were better before the pandemic but now the portion sizes are inadequate for the amount of money that they charge for them. 2- orders of Vegan wings $22. ea 2- orders of vegan cheese fries $7. ea Usually when I call to complain they normally compensate me for the inconvenience. When I called on 12/11/23 I explained to the lady that took my order of the prior circumstances. She seemed like she had intended on preventing that from occurring again. When I received my order, the portion sizes were inadequate again. When I called back to speak to her about it, she conveyed to me “that’s how we do it”. When I asked to speak to someone in charge, she said the manager Tom won’t be in until the next morning. Normally someone is always in charge of the shifts. My mornings are super busy during the holidays and I didn’t have time to call back to speak to Tom the following morning. She was cold and seemed to not care, so due to her response and the way she handled everything, I will not be ordering from the Triangle...
