This was a spur of the moment visit. We went to Philly expecting to go to another Jamaican restaurant that I love, but they were closed. This was a 2nd choice because Hubz had been here before. The restaurant was located in a busy block, but we found parking easily. The service was great. The employee at the counter was polite and made sure he had our order correct. We waited about 7 minutes for our 4 platters. They all came out hot and fresh. As we waited, I noticed several employees in the back scrubbing equipment and cleaning pots and pans. They were very clean inside the small restaurant. Lastly, I ordered us a few beef patties to eat on the ride home. The four platters, 2 beef patties, and a drink came up to about $85, which isn't bad. The food was good! Not the best Jamaican food I've had, but no complaints. I'd go back as my 2nd choice for Jamaican. I give a 4.3 out of 5.

I initially ordered a small curry goat and decided to switch to a large because it was only two dollars more. The little woman nonchalantly told me to make up my mind. (I should’ve followed my first thought, like the ole’ folks say, and walked out). The goat gravy was more like broth and instead of tasting like it was curried, it tastes more like it was boiled in water with curry seasoning added to the water. Try to imagine broth from curry flavored oddles and noddles(if there is such a thing). So the goat was dry in texture but wet because it was boiled/stewed/curried. Plus the rice was over cooked and the cabbage was in between firm and soft. They just lost a customer. I attached two pictures after I ate some of the food. It tastes like a “mush” platter!

Where do I start? This food is(TENDER OXTAILS, RICE & BEANS, CABBAGE with a SIDE of MAC & CHEESE): DELICIOUS, MASSIVE, AUTHENTIC, WELL WORTH THE MONEY, MADE WITH LOVE!!!!💜. I’m NOT KIDDING, YOU WON’T BE MAD WITH THE PLATTER!!!! Now the FEES ASSOCIATED WITH DD(DoorDash) that’s ANOTHER STORY!!! But THEY GIVE YOU SOOOO MUCH FOOD THAT YOU’VE ALREADY PAID FOR The fees with THE AMOUNT OF FOOD YOU GET!!! I ate for 2 1/2 days & on the 3rd day, I ordered a SMALLER, YET STILL HUGE platter & put the REST of my INITIAL platter with THAT ONE & IT LOOKED LIKE I NEVER ATE ONE BITE!!! OMG, TOP TASTE IS THE BOMB!!!! (Btw, I had JERK CHICKEN, RICE & BEANS, CABBAGE & a side of MAC & CHEESE)

If you are really looking for a great Caribbean and Jamaican Restaurant, please do not go here. Go to Maxwell's at 17th and Susquehanna St. Philadelphia PA 19121. The food sucks and dry and very nasty, at Top Taste. I use to visit this restaurant every now and then only when I didn't feel like driving to Maxwell's another Jamaican Restaurant that I frequently visit. My experience at Top Taste was horrible yesterday, first their was a long line so I expected the food to be good. When It was my turn I look on the menu to see what they had I order Jerk Chicken and then I was trying to order another platter for my son but everything that I saw on the menu they didn't have. You would have think a restaurant would put a sign up stating what they have left so it won't be no confusion. While trying to see what to order the guy stated well you have to hurried up there is a lot of people to be serve well I waited to be serve also for like 15 minutes standing in line. And also it took them five minutes to fix other people platters so why did it matter how long I took I was trying to order food. I only took the one platter and left. I was so upset before I left I open my platter to check it once more and the chicken was so dry I wanted to return it but I just went back there and ask could they put some jerk sauce on it in which they did, but the chicken was still dry and nasty the cabbage was also nasty. I will never go and visit this restaurant...

Customer service is horrible!!! The short light skin girl with her hair aways covered. She Have a horrible disposition about herself. It’s like she never wants to work, She always have a mean look on her face, You could be right in front of her and she wouldn’t greet you!! She always hollering nexts, nexts! It blew my mind because I was standing right in front of her. She refused to say, how are you doing? How can I help you? I bought an oxtail platter, It was the lightest oxtail platter ever for $20, We barely had any rice or cabbage!!! I hate when I come in there and I see her in the front!!! The food is good, but she is a big turn off!!! I love the short light skin guy. He has amazing customer service, and the tall lady. She was texting on her phone as well!!!! Her energy is completely off. She doesn’t know how to make the customers feel satisfied. If I have a craving for oxtails again, Yes, I will revisit the store, but if she’s in the front, I will most definitely ask someone else to serve me. Get rid of her ASAP!!! She is bad for...

I have been to about all of the Jamaican restaurants in west philadelphia and southwest philadelphia. The list includes Top Taste on 52nd and Market and this location on Elmwood Avenue. From Quality Taste on Lancaster Avenue to Ackee Jamaican on Woodland Avenue all the way up to darby at S&S cuisine...All of which adds there own touch on each dish. However, since we are specifically addressing this restaurant I will get into it...Top Taste Elmwood Avenue is Always clean and smells great. The food is typically up to the same standard as my last visit. Although the sides in my opinion, could have much more flavor.. Rice and beans are just Ok, mac and cheese and sweet potatoes aren't the taste you'd expect from a typical African American home but are still tasty enough to consume. Though no-one asked me, I'll go on the record and say of all the restaurants I've been too, they're the Most Expensive. I never mind spending money on food but those prices are outrageous. 💁Consquently, I perfer Top Taste 52nd where the prices...
