O fair New Mexico, I miss, I miss you so------I am a native New Mexican. I can remember the flavors when eating cafe green chili at 5 years old and throughout my adult life as well. What is served here is Sonoran Mexican food. A few years back this Mexican outlet served enjoyable near New Mexican flavor food. What is the difference, New Mexican food is made with New Mexican fire roasted green chili. The tortillas used are yellow corn masa thin plyable tortillas easily cut with a fork side if cooked correctly and do not require a table hand saw. When asking for a bowl or side of hot roasted green chili, you get a dish of New Mexico Big Jims, roasted, skinned and mostly seeded. Our waitress was not fluent and she ended up getting the manager for my simple enchilada meal with green chili on the side and the tortillas cooked before throwing the meager pork sauce over the enchilada. I knew I was screwed, the staff had no clue of New Mexican food. The manager explained they were required to cook as per corporate. Fine, then stop soiling the name of New Mexican food and just call it Sonoran like it is. My enchiladas labeled New Mexico style came with a little cheese melted on top (1/3rd the proper amount), a mild gravy sauce that appeared to have hamburger and a little pork instead of just pork (where's the green chili), 2 Sonoran skinny hockey pucks that needed a steak table hand saw, salty beans and colored rice. NO CHILI!!! When the waitress finally came around, I asked where my roasted green chili was? She reacted like I never asked for it, went straight to the order, added something and brought out a bowl of hamburger gravy. I gave up though keeping my humor thanks to my wife's pleasure and laughing over their atrocity. Then came the rub. I asked for the check and no to go boxes as there was nothing there we wanted or dared feed the chickens. In perfect English our waitress communicated with no pause or extra thought. FYI- The San Tan Marketplace Arriba's has Sonoran hockey pucks as well but they will bring you roasted green chili that both establishments advertise for sale at $1.99 per lb. to help cover up the poor quality taste of the corporate mandated...
Read moreJust visited this place Monday night and it was a bad experience all around from the service to the food. The waitress was hard of hearing (got my order wrong) and it just went downhill from there. Ordered a couple of bottled beers and they were a little cooler than room temperature. Really? And waitress doesn't even offer to bring us a frosted glass or something different? Wife's quesadilla was cold and had a pile of uncooked onions in it. My chicken tacos were also cold and were supposed to be Roswell tacos (again waitress hard of hearing). Did the food preparer even know how to cook? Waitress never came back to check on us after taking our order. We had to bother her as she was busing tables and waiting on others. I'm not one to make a scene or complain when I am at a restaurant (that's what Google is for) but hopefully a manager will read this and do something about it. I have been to this location in the past and it used to be pretty good but the last two visits NOT. Someone needs to take charge of this place and fix it if they want to stay in business. No one should have to spend their hard earned cash on improperly prepared food and drinks by employees that really don't even care. Where was the manager who should have been overseeing what was coming out of the kitchen? If there was any management on duty Monday night they should be talked to by the owner and whoever prepared our food should be fired. In my opinion this restaurant needs to shutdown because they can't even get the...
Read moreI really hate leaving a bad review, but after contemplating this for a while, I decided to share our experience. It was very brief but so aggravating that we will never step foot in this restaurant again. Here it is. On a Wednesday evening, my wife and I were feeling Mexican food for dinner and Arribas is in our neighborhood. As we walked in, there was no one at the host station and no other customers. I went directly to the restroom. When I return there still was no one at the host station but now there were four parties, including my wife and me, of two to three each. There was no staff in the dining room and about three tables with dinners. I walked back towards the kitchen to inform staff of the waiting customers. I met a man coming out of the kitchen and told him they had customers waiting up front. It could be me, but he answered with a loud "THANK YOU VERY MUCH SIR" which he repeated three times. I thought, okay, that's weird and walked back to the front of the restaurant. After a few minutes a young lady came up and asked if we were the next in line. I acknowledged we were. She said there's a fifteen minute wait. The couple behind us immediately walked out. We followed. As we were leaving the parking lot, all the other waiting customers had been seated. Like I said, it is was a very brief incident, but l felt the hostess was attempting to punish me for informing them of waiting customers. We'll...
