This place is not good. When it was Hong Kong Asian Cuisine it was mediocre, it has not improved under new ownership.
Yes, we were fooled by all the 4 * 5 star reviews. I should have been suspicious that Asian Fusion had almost 12 raving reviews in the first 10 days of business. But I really didn't check the dates. I just saw that they were under new ownership and people were rhapsodizing about them.
We started with the Vegetable Spring Rolls. Served hot and fresh and the exterior was fried crispy, but the inside was tasteless mush. DH ate one, I ate half, and we left the other two uneaten.
DH ordered General Tsao's Chicken, which is his go-to. I ordered the Glazed Korean Fried Chicken.
DH took two bites of his dish and said it had a weird aftertaste. I tried it as well and it did. I don't know why---the addition of an odd spice, maybe old grease? Whatever it was, he didn't like it and he requested it removed from our table and the bill.
I was excited to try a new dish---I have read a lot about Korean Fried Chicken and was happy to have the opportunity, so I have nothing to compare it to. But I did not like it. I thought it was overcooked and dry. The sauce was okay. But I ate one piece and pushed it away. I did NOT ask for it to be removed from the bill because maybe it's supposed to taste like that. But I don't think so.
The service was very fast and the servers pleasant and smiling. The restaurant itself is the same tired place located in a strip mall---the same food is still splattered on the walls and blinds from its earlier incarnation.
Frankly, I have to believe all those "rave" reviews posted in the first few days after opening were from friends and family. I will say their website is very high...
Read moreI found this restaurant through a Facebook group and was excited to see they serve grass jelly, which is hard to find in North Phoenix. We stopped by after dinner, expecting only street food or light meals, but were pleasantly surprised to find a full menu. While it seemed pretty standard at first glance, we ordered Grass Jelly #1, Grass Jelly #3, Thai Tea, and a Chocolate Egg Waffle--and everything was fantastic! I actually prefer their grass jelly over Meet Fresh. The waitress mentioned that special items are occasionally available through LINE.
We returned a couple of weeks later to explore more of their menu. This time, we tried the House Fried Rice, Ramen, Popcorn Chicken, and Tofu Pudding. The fried rice was tasty without being greasy, the ramen was okay, and the popcorn chicken was crispy. The tofu pudding, however, was a bit disappointing--not as smooth as I'd hoped. They also offer Korean Fried Chicken, which we haven't tried yet. Overall, it's a solid spot, and I'll be back to try more...
Read moreWe had ordered from Asian Fusion through a door delivery service soon after they opened. We were excited to see a new restaurant locally. The food that was delivered was hot, fresh tasting and delicious.
Last week I had family in town and ordered takeout. The online ordering process was easy and successful. When I arrived, there was no one there to greet me. A woman came out of the kitchen area and just looked at me. Eventually a young woman showed up and helped me to pick up my order. There was nothing welcoming or friendly about the service and space itself didn't look clean or new. In addition, there was an unexpected tip added to the bill as well as a "convenience fee".
The food was sub par compared to my first experience. It was very greasy and the ingredients were not nearly as fresh tasting. I also suspect that there was good deal of MSG and salt as I woke the next day with a terrible headache. I was disappointed that they gave up on quality food so quickly. I will not...
