If I could give this 0 stars I wouldnât hesitate. The worst cake I have had in my entire life so far and boy have I tried so many. The cake I was told was strawberry shortcake because he said that was their bestseller but the cake I received was poorly decorated and tasted (& looked) at least 4 days old. It tasted so bad, completely dry and tasteless and looked stale. Everyone at the party left their cakes on their plates untouched. We threw so much of the cake we cut and when I went to keep it back in the fridge it fell apart completely (you can clearly see that in the pictures) but even before that when the birthday girl cut it, it was falling apart slowly.. so we put a bowl next to it for support. The strawberries in between were so old tasting and not fresh at all. Nothing about the cake was fresh. To me it looked like he was basically judging us for ordering the smallest cake and was not bothered by it and gave more importance to the wedding cake orders than the birthday cakes. The guy was so unprofessional with us. He was judging us based on our ethnicities instead of providing everyone with the same service. My cousin and I felt so uncomfortable with him basically stereotyping us and looking us up and down because we ordered a small cake. We did not feel welcome and he kept ignoring us. Me and my cousin called the bakery to place our order but since he couldnât understand over the phone he asked us to come in person. When we went to the bakery he did not even properly acknowledge us. We stood in front of the door so long and were not even asked to take a seat while others who were entering the bakery after us were greeted warmly and were asked to take a seat to which he said they had an appointment. So when I asked him why he didnât mention appointment to us over the phone or in person instead of making us wait for so long he replied saying the appointment is 50 dollars per hour which costs more than the cake I had ordered. I was taken aback at that statement so he quickly rephrased it by saying you saw we were fully booked for that day. So why would you ask us to come to the bakery to talk if your appointments were full? We clearly were treated differently than other customers (poorly). Please treat all your customers fairly and do not discriminate. The Nike sign was basically a U instead of a swoosh and I said i wanted it black but he gave us a dark green and when I said it wasnât black he disagreed and said it was black. I am very disappointed with the customer service, bakery, and their cake. Will never recommend anyone to order from them. They are not consistent and treat everyone different based on how much they are paying for the cake. Absolutely ridiculous and he didnât...
Read moreThe reason Bamboo Bakery has so many 5-star reviews is because they "bribe" their customers by offering a free mini cake on your 1 year anniversary, IF you provide a 5 star review. I called and asked if I would get a free cake if I left an honest review. David said âno,â because if the cake wasn't good enough to leave a 5-star review, then we shouldn't want to eat it again, anyway. LOL! So, I will forgo my âfreeâ anniversary topper cake, so YOU can know how things really went down with Bamboo Bakery. ;) David's customer service is REALLY good! Truly, this was the BEST thing about the experience and why I would ever return. The location and ambience leave MUCH to be desired. But I really enjoyed doing the design process with him. You can tell that he is experienced and the fees are reasonable. Also, we got our deposit back when we returned the cake dowels and supports. The wedding cake was delivered without incident. BUT, Davidâs measurements were off regarding the dĂ©corâŠthe cake stand, the jeweled pieces. Also, they used hot glue on my keepsake cake dĂ©cor! Then, there was a crack on the bottom cake tier. The cake was frozen in the middle. Nobody could eat it, so we had a ton of cake leftover! Ugh! But, what really irritated me and seriously reduced their score was how they forgot to add the silver dragees to my cake, even though they were on the sketch David drew for expressly that purposeâŠto not forget them! My cake was super simple and kind of plain, so I was really counting on the dragees to add a bit of glamour and shine. The silver dragees would have also pulled together the rest of the decor elements on my cake. This was VERY disappointing, and Bamboo Bakery failed to deliver on this. I felt soooo let down. I did not let it ruin my wedding, but it still bothers me enough after a year to leave this review. You get what you pay for. This place is average at best. IF this is all that you can afford, then go for it! I was not in a position to spend $9 a slice at some hoity-toity custom bakery. Bamboo Bakery cake is good, pretty, and we were pleased. I would order again, if I needed a tiered cake, but with greatly managed expectations! This place is NOT 5 stars...not by any stretch of the imagination. Hope this...
Read moreBamboo Bakery, and its owner and operator David Pham, are nothing short of outstanding! David was a pleasure to work with, and such a breath of fresh air in the stressful whirl that wedding planning can so easily become.
My fiancĂ© and I had seen Bamboo Bakeryâs amazing booth at a wedding expo, and the company had been recommended by a friend who had used them for her wedding. Our very first encounter with David, which was supposed to just be a general Q&A session to see if we wanted to utilize his services, ended with us completely designing and ordering our cake! During our meeting, David explained the process, allowed us to taste all of the great flavors, and asked us what we had in mind as far as flavor, colors, and design. After devoting several hours of his time to this one-on-one meeting with us, and walking us through the various pros and cons of different designs, styles, and structural concepts, we had our very own personalized cake designed and our delivery date secured!
The prices and flavors were great, and Davidâs designs were out of this world! He can masterfully accommodate simple, traditional designs, outlandish and incredibly unique designs, and everything in between!
On the day of our wedding, David was slated to deliver our cake later in the afternoon. However, a situation arose at our wedding venue, which threatened to derail our cake delivery plans. I called David, and he was quick to re-adjust his schedule and accommodate this potentially problematic situation. He was happy to work around this problem, and we couldnât be more grateful that he did! Crisis averted!
When it was delivered day-of, we couldnât have been more pleased with the results! Our cake looked amazing, and exactly the way we had designed it. The simple 2-D drawing on a piece of paper had been brought to life! Our guests all loved and commented on it â it was a shame my handsome husband and I had to smash it in each otherâs faces!
David Pham and Bamboo Bakery played a huge role in the success of our wedding, as the cake is such an...
