I visited Birrieria Obregon in Phoenix on a Sunday morning with my wife, sister, and a friend, and we had a bit of a mixed experience. My sister and I were craving menudo, so we both ordered the red menudo. The flavor was authentic and delicious, and the meat was tender, but unfortunately, the soup was only lukewarm at best. On the bright side, the large flour tortilla that came with it was fresh, hot, and delicious. My friend ordered the birria tacos, which were also flavorful, but the meat inside was just warm, even though the corn tortilla was hot. The salsas, however, were absolutely incredible and saved the day! The star of the show was undoubtedly my wife's carne asada burrito. The meat was tender, perfectly seasoned, and cooked traditionally over an open flame with mesquite charcoal. It tasted exactly like the authentic carne asada I've had from the best taco shops in Baja California, in places like Tijuana and Mexicali. The salsas were great, and the fresh, homemade flour tortilla was the perfect wrap for this amazing burrito. While some of the dishes had temperature issues, the quality of the carne asada and the amazing homemade tortillas and salsas make this place worth a visit. If you go, I highly recommend ordering anything with their...
Read moreNot what it used to be, you know that feeling of going to a place where you just know you will enjoy a good meal and be completely satisfied with the flavor, service, and surroundings? Well you’re not going to find that at this place. My husband got the Caldo de Res (Cocido) and let me tell you …. It was still FROZEN! The Papa was frozen and the corn!! Oh my i thought I was going to run up a dentist bill thinking he light of chipped his tooth. UNBELIEVABLE!!! It’s so sad that they’ve let this place go. I mean it’s what usually happens when the owners make some money and then they don’t care anymore about the quality of food or service they offer. I mean the girl do offer to reheat it for us, but honestly at that point we were just over it. Now let’s not forget about the TOSTADA DE REPOLLO that I ordered. Oops I mean tostada de camarón 🤦🏻♀️ seriously I think they put an entire cabbage on my tostada. Worst...
Read moreI just called Birrieria Obregon on Van Buren because we picked up a to go order for their largest size Birria de Rez and one of them was goat. I called them to fix this issue. I heard everything that was said on the phone including the lady saying, "They already took it, mmm que bonito" because they would not be able to verify our order otherwise. We aren't lying. They asked if the cups were marked. Neither of them were. Not my fault. I asked if the next time we ordered we could get one for the one that was mistaken. The girl on the phone said no that we would have to go back to the restaurant for them to verify that it was goat. So, you would have me drive all the way back to confirm that it was goat (which it is the taste is entirely different) and then maybe refund me or replace the order for what it should have been. Not worth the trip, ladies. This was not...
