Between our trips to Las Vegas, The Gal and I like to check out some local talent here in Phoenix â but we have to be careful as we are both professionals and we need to keep our anonymity. A good thirty minutes from us at Thomas and 32nd Street is Bourbon Street. We met another Phoenix couple at the Palomino Club in Vegas a few months ago and they gave this club a glowing review â so we decided to see for ourselves.
Since the Palomino is the standard by which we judge all the clubs we visit, it is only natural that we will compare and contrast based on what we consider the âcouples gold standardâ of strip clubs.
I called ahead; asking about any sort of packages available and the hours the club tended to get busy. They do appear to answer the phone outside of the actual club hours (at least they picked up my call at 10:00am). The woman at the other end of the phone was knowledgeable and friendly. I was informed there were no packages, but VIP services were available. More on that later.
Location and Parking Just off of the 51 in south Phoenix, Bourbon Street is pretty easy to get to. Google Maps looks like it wants you to turn off a side road to get into the parking lot, but both entrances are right off Thomas.
We were warned the area looks a bit seedy (and to be honest, it does). The clubâs exteriors arenât going to win any awards â there are no real aesthetics to speak of; no theming or branding really to be had here. Nothing wrong with that (after all, it is what is inside that you probably care about), but after seeing the presentation by Christieâs Cabaret? We may have been spoiled a bit.
Parking is free and abundant. We saw no sketchy elements coming (about 7pm) or going (about midnight). It is pretty well-lit and feels safe enough; neither my wife nor I felt uncomfortable there.
Going Inside As with most clubs, there is a large floor area and a bar. One wall is filled with six TVs (three flanking the left and right of the main stage) â playing various sports and television (The Gal and I prefer not to be distracted; we love it when clubs have music videos and things that augment the dancers; not pull your attention away from them) and most of the seating is designed to all face the same way.
The floor is very open and has about 30-40 tables (is there some place special that makes âstrip club chairsâ? I swear every club has the same couples-unfriendly seats â free advice? Figure out a table-friendly couples âlove seatâ) and the bar would probably accommodate 20-25 people. The dancers seemed to hang out at the bar a lot (and we found out why later).
Much like Alaska Bush Co. here in Phoenix, there are three stages at Bourbon Street; a main, larger stage and mini-stages on either end of the floor. When we got there, only the main stage and âStage 3â were open. The dancers start on the main stage, then move each song to Stage 2 and finally Stage 3.
The music was quite diverse; from pop to rock and a little hip-hop and youâll hear songs from the 90s on up. That will likely be a turn off to some people but we appreciate diversity in all things.
One thing most reviews do not discuss are things like the bathrooms. There are no attendants here (for better or worse) and the womenâs bathroom is literally on the other side of the dancerâs dressing room (meaning you have to walk through it). Great if youâre a bisexual lady like The Gal here, but even so â my wife felt she was being a bit invasive to go to the bathroom. Worth noting that the ladiesâ room has 3 stalls and both of us decided the bathrooms were clean and well-kept.

Read moreBeautiful women; I have seen so many untrue reviews, I had to do a review. First, the girls are ALWAYS amazing; doesnât matter day or night. This is the ONLY club that truly does have a hiring criteria and there are certain women the owner doesnât want to hire because maybe they donât take care of themselves, or maybe he feels they donât fit this particular demographic, or maybe he doesnât want the problems some girls could bring into the club. Thank goodness there is a club that after all these years, stays true to itâs roots, ALWAYS keeps the same standards, and expects EVERYONE who works there to stay within the guidelines of what is expected of a performer at Bourbon Street. I know there are girls out there who cannot understand why they canât come on in, just like most of the clubs in the valley; in reality, maybe you wouldnât even be happy here. This club isnât for everybody; no one is allowed to fight or argue, the owner doesnât play favorites, everyone behaves like a lady and parks their baggage at the door. If you donât, youâre out; doesnât matter you had a bad night, you broke up with your significant other, etc. Your just out. This club is for girls, women, who take this industry seriously and treat it as a job. Simple. Bourbon Street only receives negative reviews, for the most part, because either a girl was turned away, (not because she didnât have fake breasts, I see this popular excuse all the time), or because a customer has issues he or she walked in the door with before anyone said or did anything and their own behavior was called out. Bourbon Street has a good clean reputation and an expectation of AMAZING women; although I have personally not been there in years, I know it remains the same great business it has always been due to a constant and consistent attention to the details; the owner never...
Read moreThis place is dark, it smells really really bad, the employees are all sad as this place is truly depressing. The clientele coming here looks uneducated and cheap I was afraid even to pull out cash in front of those people. They probably have lame jobs considering the lame cars they drive! Probably the low light helps them to trying on covering up the dirty environment. Do they ever clean in this place? I doubt considering they serve greasy pop corn that sit there for weeks and they have a female manager that also works as a waitress lol... Do they have seriously money issue to afford 2 people working 2 separate jobs? At night time things are even worst as a really depressed looking old male manager with greasy hair works there and literally looks like he is mad at everyone. He never smiles. He also smells nasty. If you work in contact with the public you may consider washing yourself and smile a little. Just save your money and go to Vegas in the week-end! Christy Cabaret in Tempe is the only clean option around. The girls are pretty and they all seems happy. Clubs in Phoenix Metro Area look depressing and dirty especially this one. The girls here at Bourbon have no idea on how to entertain. They share drama stories to beg you for money instead of giving you a lough. Vegas is the Mecca but I was aspecting something a little better from a city like Phoenix. This place has so many reviews on other websites and so I tought it to be a decent spot. Then I realized that the reason why there were so many reviews is because it used to be really good! I met a beautiful Dancer in Vegas that used to work here in this club many years ago and did really really well. The club maybe have been sold so now is...
