I saw a news report that it was "National Chocolate Cupcake Day," so I decided that I'd get my wife some cupcakes. I had also heard about Crumbl and some crumby lawsuit they're involved in, so, out of curiosity, I googled them and found the Arcadia one nearby. They had Chocolate Cupcake Cookies, which was close enough to actual cupcakes. I drove over. The place was vacant, save for four workers and me. And a bunch of screens where I could place my order without interacting with another human. I ordered four cookies and was quite surprised that they were $4 apiece. As Vince Vega says in "Pulp Fiction," "I gotta know what a four dollar cookie tastes like." Or words to that effect.
Cookies were placed in a box, which the website tells me is "Instagramable," and to which I reply, "why would I want a picture of a cookie box on my Instagram?" The box was pushed across the counter at me with a muttered "thank you" by an indifferent worker.
I brought them home, my wife was pleased, we each had a cookie. And I think both our reactions once we found out what a four dollar cookie tasted like were "meh." They were cookies. I could've pulled the stand mixer out of the pantry and made cookies tastier than these. I don't understand why anyone would try and steal this recipe and clone the cookie experience. Good luck with the lawsuit.
And why am I continually prompted "would you like to leave a tip" on the machine that takes my order? I'm doing the cashier's job. Maybe you should turn it around and ask "would you like a discount on your order for doing our job?" It's not just Crumbl, it's everywhere that has these stupid machines. I'd give myself a 20% discount for tapping a picture of a cookie and a couple of "+" signs and tapping my card. That's tough work!
tl:dr, I got indifferent service, mind-numbingly expensive cookies that tasted just as good as the bakery cookies at Safeway, and there was nothing about the experience that could possibly entice me to go back.
8/23 edit: Nine months ago when I posted this review there were 15 or 20 other reviews on here. Now there are almost 1,500. Maybe instead of paying for three-word five-star reviews you could pay your indifferent...
Read moreNick at the Arcadia crumbl has been AHMAZZZING! I order every week and my husband and 4yr old love to gather around and try each one. I think , no I’m positive, this is something they both just appease me with doing lol as I don’t think they are as excited as I am to try them. Since dealing with chemo and radiation for late stage 3 endometrial adenocarcinoma cancer we have been ordering crumbl and just looking for something’s to do together and kind of traditional. It’s small but something I can do myself. Last week I finally was able to cook my husband a bday dinner this yr after not being able too the last 2yrs. I had ordered the butter cake and unfortunately the delivery person left it at the door instead of handing it to me. I called nick and no questions asked he sent over a new batch at 845pm. Unfortunately the new order was delivered again by a delivery person who was going to just leave it at our neighbors door. After asking him to bring it I tipped the driver only to find out the cookies were once again melted. I called nick and he refunded the order and was so kind and very apologetic. He had not only tried to get a new order but had sent a card for a free cookie, which the driver did not give to us. I called today after seeing a double charge and nick checked to be sure it was only one charge he made sure to let me know to check and give him a call if anything changes in the next few days. I want to let everyone know that nick is one of those people in customer service(I have worked in the CS industry for most of my career) that definitely knows that although the customer isn’t always right, it doesn’t take much to try to make it right. Although my hubby didn’t get the cookies he loved on his bday, nick helped me to have a better mood so that my husband was happy and didn’t have to come home and get the bad mood of me being upset that “nothing went right” the fist bday I was able to cook for him this year! Thank you nick and I hope that you are a permanent fixture at the Arcadia store as I...
Read moreI went there to buy a couple skillets cookies on two different occasions, the first time I got them I bought 2 and I got one as it comes and 1 with no vanilla bean moose just chocolate drizzle but when I went to the car the cookie wasn’t even warm like it’s says it would be in the app when I ordered it , I mean the cookie was so good but it not being warm was pretty disappointing, I went a couple days later and got 2 more of the same cookie by this time asked for them both without out the moose and just chocolate drizzle but the worker refused to just put chocolate drizzle on it because it was against store policy mind u she was the same girl that helped me a couple days prior and did it for me then! Please tell me what the big deal is , it’s wasn’t busy , she did it 2 days prior for me no problem , I only ordered 2 cookies and I didn’t think it was that’s hard of a request! I feel if there is a so called policy in place for how the cookies are made and given then all the cookies should come as is in my opinion if I can take something off why can’t I still put drizzle when it comes on the cookie! What happened to making the customer happy especially when I made the smallest request it’s not like I made her give me a brand new cookie I requested it as she was boxing them And yet again the cookie wasn’t even warm , when she boxed my cookies it looks like they had been sitting on the counter and not in any kinda warmer! This employee needs to do better and treat customers a little better! I’m not one to complain in person cause I don’t like confrontation but do better and make sure your...
