From the moment I walked up to the food truck, Alberto (Solo) the owner was very welcoming. I never once felt rushed or like my business didn't matter. I initially went there planning to order the Carne Frita y Arroz Con Gandules and a Kola Champagne. After trying a sample of the Pernil y Arroz Con Gandules, I was shook𤯠I ended up ordering the Pernil y Arroz Con Gandules, the Mofongo (Solo), an Empanada and a Kola Champagne. The food is freshly prepared when you order it, it's not sitting around someplace drying out all day hoping to be sold. Of course because the Pernil cooks for hours and the rice takes a minute, those things are already prepared but I assure you, the flavor was fresh! While waiting for my food, I was chatting with the owner Alberto who is very personable and clearly very passionate about what he does. You can tell he truly cares about his customers and the quality of the food and service he provides. Not to mention, you'll learn a thing or two if you're wise enough to listenš Back to the food - my favorite thing out of the entire order was the Pernil y Arroz Con Gandules. The Pernil was so well seasoned and so perfectly tender, you really didn't need teeth to eat it. The arroz was also perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. I definitely have to say I haven't had Puerto Rican food this good since before I moved out of Chicago. All in all, El New Yorican is THE PLACE to go when you want AMAZING Puerto Rican food that's cooked and served by an owner that truly believes in high quality and certainly appreciates your business. Ā Ā Ā Read moreAmazing stop if your craving Authentic Puerto Rican food. First off the Owner makes you feel welcomed as if he's known you for years, very friendly and polite. His interaction with his customers is on point. Not one of those places you spend your money and don't feel wanted. He took the time to speak to my wife who's not Puerto Rican, allowed her to sample items before spending money. The desserts were mouth watering, and freshly made. My favorite is definitely the flan de coco,(perfectly made) Everything we had was delicious. money well spent. Certain items are seasonal or bi-weekly so maybe call ahead to confirm. But we Can't find anything to complain about this spot besides not having it sooner. My wife and I are excited to go next weekend for other dishes. We definitely will be returning customers. I had to tell the owner his food tasted just like my grandmothers cooking as a child. Hands down the best Puerto Rican food in Az so far.
I wish I got the owners name, but thank you for your service and keep up the amazing job. God bless and well...
