Tasty ramen but poor service and terrible operations ruined the experience. Disorganized and strange, poor manner of running the restaurant. The original tonkotsu is the ramen to order but not the BEST in Phoenix like other reviewers have indicated. Having tried the majority of ramen restaurants in metro Phoenix, Jinya does NOT make the list of top 5. Cons: - Was not greeted or acknowledged at entrance. We had to wait a while before someone even came to say hi and put our name of the wait list - Servers were not pleasant, acted annoyed at us and overwhelmed in general by the busyness - Had to wait several minutes to get anything asked for (e.g., straws, soy sauce, check, etc.) - Forgot to bring us the side of noodles we ordered - Several tables left messy and unbussed for long periods of time (servers serve plus bus their own tables). See video that shows 3 unbussed tables at the same time during our experience. - Cocktail menu does not list the ingredients of the cocktails! - Yuzu margarita was uninteresting and tasted terribly artificial - Crispy rice with spicy tuna appetizer arrived cold and tasted like it had been left a while before served. Nothing interesting about this appetizer! - Was charged an extra $1.80 for “Kaedama thick” which I assume is their rich sauce without asking for any upgrades or changes! This extra charge isn’t even listed on the menu as an option! - Experienced several frustrated parties waiting for a table as the staff behaved completely overwhelmed with a full house Pros: - Good-tasking original tonkotsu ramen - Easy, close parking - Kids menu - Kid-friendly atmosphere - Large vegan & vegetarian menu Non- authentic, artificial hype here. I suggest trying some REAL amazing ramen in California like San Diego area and then compare to Jinya. Sorry, lots of improvement needs to be made!

To date, this was the best bowl of ramen I have had in Arizona. Very likely the second best bowl I have ever had. The broth had good depth of flavor. The pork was very tender and also had great flavor. I liked the available additions. I added corn and surprised myself with brussel sprouts. My only critiques are as follows. Most places offer corn as an addition, which I love. However, few have a roasted or charred corn. I wish they had done that. It adds another level of flavor. Additionally, I ordered the Tonkotsu Black and when I asked if I could have them make it spicy, they didn't have a way to do that for some reason. When it got to the table, I was able to add some of the hot sauce available on the table, but I would have preferred the option of choosing a spice level and having it incorporated into the bowl/broth before hitting the table. I'm being a bit picky; I know. I tried the Jinya bun. It was okay, but didn't blow me away. I wouldn't order it again. I also ordered the crispy chicken and loved it. I actually saved a piece to dip and incorporate into my ramen bowl. Only other nitpick is the lighting. You'll see this in other reviews I have written too. I don't understand super dim lighting. About halfway through the meal, the lights were lowered. I literally couldn't see my food. Maybe that was due to me being there for the lighting change, but I just don't understand it. I have had this conversation with other people as well. Seems odd to me that restaurants keep doing this. Overall, I loved my meal. Great experience and I will come back. I would rate at a 4.7.

First time coming into this restaurant on a date with my boyfriend. We got there around 8:40pm and were seating promptly. Everyone is super nice and our waiter Derek takes our orders right away. The restaurant seems new and very put together, kinda dim lighting so we can’t really see everything clearly but it’s nice. The music is loud and feels like a underground rave, not my favorite but it seems promising. We’re excited, we order the Brussels sprouts Tempura, Tonkatsu Black substituting chicken for the pork, Premium Tonkatsu Red and the Lycheetini with Kirin Draft. The food comes out with great timing, it’s pouring outside and the power goes out shortly after. The EDM was blasting in our ears so it was a nice just soaking up the ambiance of the rain while eating our food.

Right off the bat, the broth is gelatinous and not hot, it’s lukewarm at best. The chicken in my boyfriends ramen is cold and so is the pork in mine. The noodles aren’t bad but look like they’ve been sitting in the broth too long. The Brussels sprouts tempura and the drinks are arguably the best stuff we ordered. The broth was ok in flavor but thick and not hot. The Lycheetini was very fun and yummy. The Brussels were fried perfectly, crunchy and hot when we bit into them. We don’t finish our ramen and once we finished our drinks we paid the bill and left. Our waiter was already helping out all the tables on the floor and honestly the staff was already shuffling things around to close. I’m not expecting them to make a better ramen if the first one already came out the way it did. I’ve worked in restaurants it’s labor intensive and low reward. I still paid and tipped because it’s important but ultimately the food wasn’t good. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their food but our ramen that was $19 a piece was lukewarm and gelatinous. The price tag doesn’t match the quality of the food or the ambiance of restaurant. I expect better for the quality of food to be timely, hot and delicious. I won’t be coming here again and I hope that the restaurant does better for their customers...

Tried this place about a week ago with my husband and we dined in that time. The food was delicious, we were seated immediately and the service was ok. We decided today that we would place an order for pick up for dinner. We live about 30min away so we placed the order at 6:30pm for a 7pm pick up on the restaurants website. We ordered 2 ramens both with sides of crispy chicken and an order of their crispy rice with spicy tuna. When I arrived at 7:05 the restaurant was busy but not full and there was no one waiting in the entrance. I told the host I was there to pick up my order and gave my name. He had someone go check who came back asked for my name again and said it would be 2-3 more minutes. A few min later he tried to hand me an order that clearly had a different name and not what I ordered. The host then came up to me and handed me a check with someone else’s name on it, and immediately walked away. When he returned I told him it wasn’t my check, I already paid online. He proceeded to ask for my name again. Over the course of 30 min waiting for my food I was asked for my name 6 times by people who I had already given it to, told various different time frames of when my order would be ready, viewed more than one person who ordered pick up and had their orders messed up or had to wait an extended time for their order to be ready. When I was finally handed my order I went out to my car to check everything was there and was missing an item. I went back in to let them know and had 2 people come review my receipt multiple times and check the bag more than once. By the time I got home my food was cold. I will say the food was still good reheated but I am very disappointed by what I experienced tonight. Maybe it was an off night for them but it seemed like there was a real communication issue between the front of the house and...

Me and a couple of buddies came by to hangout at this place and to try their food. Mainly because this ramen place in tuscon called kiwami has been proven to be the best so far so we wanted to try out this jinya place. Upon arrival we noticed the place was a little unprofessional. With the host telling us that we would be waiting for 5 minutes to be sat down which is completely fine until it took nearly 20 mins for us to be seated. We then were seated outside where the temp was a solid 57 degrees. Which is pretty chilly considering its Arizona. We were told that the heaters would be turned on which we later found out that the heaters have no propane. So we waited for a good 30 minutes untill our server finally asked us what we would like to drink. Without writing anything down he took our drink orders and continued to mix up our drinks. But it was fine it happens. However it wasnt untill our server confused our appetizer orders and had either forgotten or missed some of our orders adding more time to our stay there. We later are finally asked for our main orders which were all taken correctly. Again our server did not write anything down considering our bunch was not ordering on the same tab but 4 different tab because there are 7 of us. The food was a solid 2/10 with the ramen being somewhat cold. Not only that but my friend ordered the pork chashu where a few ingredients werent listed under the dish were added. My friend having to pick out the unwanted ingredients. It was time for us to go as we did not enjoy our stay with unprofessional servers and meh food. As our tabs are accounted for 2/4 tabs were charged incorrectly. One tab getting charged for all the drinks and another tab getting charged an extra 50 dollars worth of tips. We will not be returning and are still waiting for a call back to...
