Talk about going in reverse!! Used to LOVE coming to Joyride, especially at happy hour during the week. As most places, they have raised their prices. Just recently they rolled out a new happy hour menu- which allows for HH 7days a week. The menu is pretty pitiful. Let me start by saying the alcoholic beverages are not the greatest. Not ONE lager is on happy hour and the mixed drinks they chose to be on HH, are not the greatest. I witnessed a female bartender “pre mixing” the margarita cocktail into a huge tub. Over heard her saying she “accidentally made too much” and after about observing her for half an hour, her alcohol to lime/orange juice ratio was concerning. She seemed lost or maybe absent minded. Needless to say, we had 2 drinks and after seeing that, we left. No one question this bartender or stopped her. She was pouring bottles after bottles into one of their mixing containers. Grabbing pitchers, handling them from the base, dunking them into the container, pouring it into another container. Touching her face walking around, the dish washer. Dunking the pitcher again. I mean unsanitary and unsafe to say the least. For the safety of us adults and blood to alcohol levels, take some better precaution, Joyride. They absolutely lost some customers over this as many around the bar were commenting the same things. Definitely not worth a high sugar- high alcohol percentage $6 drink. Be better.

We have visited the other Upward Projects restaurants and decided to round it out by visiting Joyride. We brought the doggo along since their patio is dog friendly. We started with the three salsitas and they also brought us chips and salsa. The chips were crispy and just thick enough to stand up to the bean dip and quacamole. We probably could have made a meal out of the salsa, bean dip, cheese dip, and quacamole but held ourselves back. All were flavorful and addictive in the way of chips and dip. it’s a taco shop, so we went with tacos for our meal. We ordered the taco of the day (chicken tinga), as well as Carne Asada, Pork Adobada, Carnitas, Crispy fish taco, and Chipotle Shrimp. Our favorite was the fish taco. Generous sized piece of crispy fish and a nice scoop of guacamole on top. The white magic sauce was tasty as well. All of the tacos were good, but we likely would come back for the fish taco. The service was excellent, as with all of the restaurants in the Project. We likely have 4 people check on us throughout our dinner, and one noticed that we were getting low on chips for our three salsitas and brought us more. The patio is well shaded by a mature ficus tree and has a nice atmosphere. It is adjacent to Central Ave, but we really didn’t notice the traffic all that much, even in the evening on a Friday. Would return again!

Went in blind. The decor and music are great, and our server, Precious (?), was awesome: genuinely friendly and attentive, and gave us ideas on what to order. Now onto the food: we ordered the guac and chips which looked and tasted delicious. I ordered the Monster burrito as an entree and it was one of the best burritos I've had. It was weird that it came with a side of beans and rice, since the burrito had at least pinto beans in it. To drink, I had the fresh lemonade which was really good. I originally wanted to try the horchata but forgot to order it with the food, so I got one to go; and this might be my only criticism of this place: it didn't taste like horchata. It was pretty good, although a tad too sweet. But more importantly the horchata flavor wasn't there. It might be due to the use of almond milk to make it, but I couldn't tell that it was horchata. Hopefully I just ordered one on an off day. Before we left, we tried the churros at the recommendation of our server. The plate comes with 2 large churros and a side of a caramel type sauce, which appeared to have flaky salt on top which cut the sweetness just right. Kudos. All in all I loved this place. From the decor to the amazing food, my expectations were exceeded and I was impressed. I wish I lived in Phoenix so that I could go more often.

This place always has good food, but horrible service. Three times in in a row I’ve been there. And unless you have alcohol on your table, you don’t get much attention.

I took My Son there yesterday for lunch right before Good Friday service. I am stage personnel at a very large church. And the lady was cleaning the table next to us and has seemed to have stacked every used cup in the restaurant that has half full of liquids all at the table next to us.

And then proceeded to knock over all of those half used beverages on top of me. She runs away and says oops. Grabs towels to clean up the mess that she made on her side. But never addressed me. I clearly have Everybody’s have used drinks in the restaurant all over me. And I got zero apologies. Napkins. Towels. Or even an attention from my server and the manager that consistently walked by.

It was disgusting. On every level. 🤮

Something that I don’t wish on anybody. And the fact that it wasn’t even acknowledged and I had to continue the rest of my day and go on stage in front of thousands of people with that nasty residue all over me. 🤮🤮🤮🤮

I do not understand how they are capable of owning multiple restaurants in different locations. If this is the standard of service and it clearly got overlooked.

I should not have to make a scene and act like I’m very upset when something very horrible happened to me at your establishment.

The restaurant should just acknowledge it and fix it firsthand but that did not happen at all.

I don’t even care if my clothes are ruined. I just wish this would never have happened in the first place. And I hope this never happens to anybody in the future. It really could have been prevented and handled 100% better. I don’t even think that disgusting fully describes how I felt in that moment.

I would expect this from a little mom and pop first timer restaurant. Not a multi million dollar industry that these owners are in. It was wrong on so many levels and I still feel highly disrespected a day later. I probably won’t ever visit anyone of their restaurants in my future.

And I know how owners of restaurants get all defensive and act like these reviews are somehow overly exaggerated so if you don’t believe me, just review your cameras around 3pm 4/18/25. Actions speak, louder than words. Treat people...

Food and drink- first the drink order was taken by one server who took my order which was an old fashioned/w buffalo trace bourbon and my wife needed another minute to decide. Then another server came over to take our order and didn’t realize someone had already been to our table. So there was confusion from them at the start. My drink didn’t taste like I thought it should taste like. Then the food order- my wife ordered three taco, one of which was going to be mine. Crispy fish, Brussel sprout, and the chicken taco. I ordered the “beast burrito”. So two of the three tacos were wrong and my beast burrito was anything but a beast. It was a lot smaller than, say Chipotle’s burritos. The tacos were the wrong order. Our order came out a few minutes later. The burrito was pretty plain as far as the contents. About half way through our meal we ordered two more cocktails. Me the old fashioned and wide one of the margaritas. Within a few minutes her drink came out but not mines. My server said my drink would take a few minutes longer because there “were several steps to make my drink”. The place wasn’t busy at all. After about 10-12 min of no drink and what looked like from what I could see of the two bartenders my drink wasn’t being made. At this point my wife’s drink was half gone, we were almost done eating and I decided to tell the server I didn’t want my drink any longer because how long it was taking. But she said they were making it and my wife insisted I just get the drink. It came out a minute later. The only highlight of the place is the building and the patio. I wouldn’t even go there for a drink and then dinner somewhere else. It’s too bad the cool ambiance is wasted on mediocre...

We did venture here after a night next door at Federal pizza. We came over due to our pizza being burnt. I still wanted to get something for dinner, but wasn't thrilled with my first experience over there enough to wait for another pizza.

I was astonished with my first time experience in this restaurant as well. At the time I didn't know Joyride is also owned by the same parent company. While we were there I had explained what had happened at dinner. Our server had comped a dessert which I thought was so nice. When we were using him what other good places to try were in the area he mentioned all of the restaurants under the company. I believe his name is Carlos. This is an outstanding employee, truly. I didn't realize what he was doing when making the suggestions until looking at the gift card that I had been given from Federal and seeing all the places he listed were owned and operated by one entity.

I had the shrimp enchiladas and I think those were the best enchiladas I've quite literally ever had. They were so flavorful and I swapped the mozzarella for Oaxaca. OMG its been a month and my mouth still waters!

I enjoyed the food at both restaurants and did go back to Federal the following weekend we ordered the same pizza and it was much better. I was so happy with this experience and I will be returning over and over to all of these restaurants. I'm thankful you have staff at each business that delivers care and upholds the value of a...
