Wish I could give zero stars. I ordered scrambled eggs and a biscuit with gravy. Came with 2 slices of bacon and two burnt hockey pucks/sausage patties. My eggs were not scrambled and my biscuit and gravy tasted horrible and were also barely Luke warm. I took one bite and waited for my server to come by. 10 minutes later I flagged her down and told her I wasn’t happy with the taste or temperature of my food. She took it away and the owner I assume came over and asked what was wrong. I explained to her what I told the server. She then proceeds to tell my husband and I to “get out” and that she would take it off the bill, but to tip the server. I told her I had only brought in my debit card so I didn't have cash to leave. I told her to charge us for the drinks so I could leave a tip. After sitting there in disbelief for a minute about what she said to us, we just walked out. Not once did she apologize and ask if they could make us something else. She made us feel like we were problem customers who like to complain. We are not that way. We prefer to help support local businesses and will continue to do so, but we will never come to Joe’s Diner again. The owners should also clean the place a bit more. There was food all over the blinds and dead mosquitoes in the window cell. * Response to the owner, since I cannot reply to your response. You clearly did not read my review properly if you think I just walked out for my own kicks and giggles. Your wife told us to leave. I was being kind by offering to tip your server. Your establishment is a joke. Looking around while I was sitting there all I saw were elderly people. They have a taste or lack thereof, of what good food and service is. If you read most of my other reviews I give five stars rather frequently. I understand the importance of social media and it’s impact on businesses and by no way shape or form would I ever try to put a business down that gave me good service and good food. Don’t call me a bad customer either. Without customers, you wouldn’t be in business. Do you want to be ashamed of yourself responding to a review in the manner in which you did. If you can’t handle constructive criticism and an honest customer review then maybe you shouldn’t be in the...
Read more02/25/2024, after over a decade and half of eating at Joe's, it continues to be a shining star on the phoenix breakfast scene. Great food, service and atmosphere. 09/26/2023...was great as always. Excellent bacon, biscuits and gravy, fantastic service by Mandy.b 07/25/2023. Still great, good food, service, quality...like a fine wine better each year. Be sure to read the rest ..05/18/2023 update: well it's been a year since the last update- Joe's is still the best breakfast/lunch diner in Arizona. I have eaten at Joe's since it first open a decade and a half or so ago. Joe's pancakes are amazing, ( we call them pancake crack- using a family recipe they are amazing). Today I had biscuits and gravy, ( fresh baked biscuits, scratch sausage gravy and Joe's custom smoked local made bacon and a bottomless ice tea.). The service is exceptional. AND iwith time as you become a regular it's like you own little Mel's diner complete with Flo and cast. Go enjoy, on weekends or holidays there may be a wait so be prepared it is worth it it. Start with biscuit with housemate jam and coffee and order a #2 breakfast and tell them Cameron sent you. So a 2022 update As always Joes Diner still does a great meal. Joe and Joan still strive for the optimum "diner" experience in food and service. Joe's stayed open through COVID providing great food in a ever evolving menu and is back to full sit down service ( and take out). Our server Debbie, was wonderful, the food fresh and tasty and more than we could finish. 05/1/2022 Breakfast for 4 this A.M. amazing as always...the pancakes were excellent, the crepes beautiful, the biscuits and gravy- yummy. Try the Embarcadero or...
Read moreThe food wasn't cooked the way I ordered . How hard could breakfast be? The service was great they checked on us several times and they noticed I was not eating and asked me if the food was okay. I told him that it wasn't cooked the way I liked the way I asked for and was offered more breakfast in exchange however the people I was with was done and so I declined. The atmosphere needs a lot of work I was saying upgrade to the furniture will be nice and the entire decor in general. I don't know how they've gone so long staying open with that folksy attitude and not even offering grits or gluten-free items. Even IHOP offers gluten-free pancakes and waffles so it's not like they don't exist. 8/31/24 I wanted to update my review. I realize this place has been in business a very long time and I think it's commendable that Joe's is loved by folks in the area. I tried it again with a friend who lives in th area. She talked it up so much.
We went and once again, the food and service was subpar. I asked if they had gluten-free items (which I tend to do everywhere) I don't believe I have a problem because I don't want muddy brown, two day old potatoes or a clean and I mean CLEAN restaurant with happy if not knowledgeable wait staff. Yes, I guess I do enjoy knowing my food will not only look and taste freshly cooked but will be. The place needs an upgrade with the 80k being made there. Smh I was only reviewing the restaurant which is my right to do and if I'm going to pay $15+ for a plain cheese omelet (overcooked) I will definitely review. So, total visited Joe's 3 times and it struck out. I WILL NOT BE RETURNING try learning from First Watch or somebody.
