Very nice resort! But have to say the service was even better! We had such a wonderful experience at Meritage Urban Tavern, we actually ate there 4 times and spent most of are time hangout and playing games on their out door patio! Joshua the restaurant manager was amazing! He took such wonderful care of us and made my fiancé and I feel extra special! He is a very very special employee!!! Philip the head chef of Meritage is so passionate for what he does! And boy oh boy it's shows! His menu is amazing! He even made special appetizers for our last dinner there! He is another very special one! Eric the bartender, Ric the server, and the hostess(dinner crew) were so welcoming and truly made the experience one we won't forget! We can't stop talking about how special Joshua and Philip made us feel. Also Arthur did a wine pairing with our appetizers. And man oh man, he knows his wines and is very knowledgeable! Excellent selections! What a well run establishment! Nothing bad to say at all!Aaron the twenty6 manager took such great care of us making sure we had a special place to have a night cigar after dinner! He was phoned by Joshua and was waiting for us at the top of the stairs to escort us to a private area on lawn! These guys made us feel like movies stars and we didn't ask for any of it! We will definitely be going back for dinners! We are north Peoria locals and will make the drive for service and food like that! Everyone at the resort were very friendly! Didn't meet one who seemed unhappy...
Read moreWe were really disappointed with our experience. We came in expecting the quality of a nice resort restaurant, but everything felt mediocre at best. Quickly finding that the menu online did not match what they were serving.
The food was overly oily, and we had issues with consistency and communication. We specifically asked if the fries were tossed in anything and were told they were plain. When they arrived, they were clearly coated in something. Upon asking, one staff member said they were tossed in olive oil. When we requested a remake due to how soaked they were, they came back out with a different waitress saying, “All better—no garlic butter this time.” So we were given three different answers about the same side dish, which didn’t inspire confidence.
The salad was overdressed and oddly portioned—just a few arugula leaves piled on top of mostly tomatoes and pickled onions. I will say the steak was the one redeeming part of the meal—it was cooked well and tasted good.
Unfortunately, we also ordered the fish and chips sub tots, and like everything else, it was greasy and underwhelming.
No desserts stood out, and honestly, between the uncomfortably hot dining room and the less-than-friendly staff, we were just ready to leave.
To top it all off, our server couldn’t even answer questions about parking validation, which left us unsure if we were about to get stuck paying out of pocket...
Read moreVery much below expectations. Food was average (think Applebees but 2x the price), service was ok, restaurant had multiple issues. Order pizza to your room, skip this place. First, our party was placed in the corner where it was very dark. We asked multiple times for the lights to be adjusted but they must have things set up where they can’t adjust lights over the dark tables. That’s fine but they’ve said others have complained in the past, SO FIX THE PROBLEM. It’s so dark you can’t see. The brought candles, we stole candles from other tables. This was the hotels busiest weekend of the year, the restaurant was only 40% occupied, we should have moved ourselves, but they should have offered to move us. Second, the waiter had lots of issues with wine, questions, asking bar, etc. and then attempts to open bottle and destroys the cork (BECAUSE SHE SAID SHE CANT SEE). Duh! So now there’s cork in the wine, we’re all in the dark and there’s no service to be found. The food wasn’t great, no need to go into that. The waitress asked if everything was ok at the end, I basically said it was fine, but we’d never come back. At that point she stood in front of me in my face and asked what she should do about it. Nice. At no point did a...
