Oaxaca Restaurant — Restaurant in Phoenix

Went to this restaurant a couple of days ago with some friends. A small hole in the way with a bit of charm. Photos of Mexican -American history on one wall, Nick nacks and snack items on the other side of this small location.

Sparse items on the menu, but does give a good selection keeping in mind location size.

Great service, one waitress one new cook.

Chips and what was supposed to pass for dip brought to table. Good chips, dip had very little flavor, neither the red or green sauce had any real flavor, very bland.

Meals arrive in good time. First bite on each item gives the same taste as the dip. A bit of flavor, barely. Over all each of us were disappointed in the meals, yet each of us knew that there was no need to have each meal redone as the new cook would not change the way he cooked the meals and waitress could not do anything either.

Overall we have each decided that we will not visit this Mexican restaurant again. If you want a somewhat favorable but bland meal then this is the place for you. If you like your Mexican/American food with zest, spicy and good flavor then you will want to...

This little restaurant is a family gem. I am ashamed to admit I had never been there before, especially because the flower shop I own is in the same strip mall. Last Sunday we had a parking lot street fair and because the aroma led me in and kept me interested for hours, and it was next to impossible not to visit this incredible restaurant and order something fun. No disappointment here! I ordered a green corn tamale, which was the best I've ever eaten! Better than any fancy chain or fast food restaurant. The home-made guacamole (yes, she made it just for me) was to-die-for and the watermelon drink was different and refreshing. The restaurant is clean as a whistle and the owners are amazing! We usually go to the Oaxaca Mexican Restaurant in Sedona. But this time we tried the Oaxaca Mexican Restaurant in Phoenix. I was going to order a salad and come to find out at this particular location, they don’t have salads. The girls at this location were amazing even though they had no salads on their menu, they went above and beyond to throw a chicken salad together for me. That is what I call good service, other restaurants would have just said no and sorry, but they didn’t do that here. My chicken salad was so freaking good and it had a ton of chicken on it.
