So today I thought I would share my experience with the original gravity. Me and my boyfriend come here all the time because we live right on highland and 16th street. We are down the street from here and love supporting local businesses. The food is delicious and they have food for vegan and vegetarians. Also, the drinks are great prices! BUT today we had a server by the name of Nyla who gave us horrible service. First situation we came into the restaurant and did not get a greeting. Mind you there is one person at the bar on a Sunday and no one is there. Then we sit down and she walks over doesn't say hello or hi and just drops the menu down. Then she comes back and askes us what we want, again no greeting conversation nothing. So we order our drinks and she brings me my vodka tonic with no lime. So I request a lime and she said okay I'm going to leave it at the bar. Again only one person here other than me and my boyfriend. So my boy friend had to go all the way up to the bar just to get lime when there was only one other person to serve. She was rude standoffish and I know all of us have bad days but it's really slow so there is no reason to be rude or disrespectful to us. So then we order our food and another drink and she comes back and just drops the check. She didn't even ask if we needed anything else. So as she walks away I tell her we need one more drink. She rolls her eyes and said okay then asked if we needed to close out. My boyfriend just said yes because we didn't want to deal with the disrespect any longer. We felt unwanted and negative energy. I value customer service and time and I value and supporting locally businesses but if I get treated like this why would I want to come back. I want to share my story so that the owner knows what we went through and how we want to continue to come and support. Also, towards the end it appears her boyfriend came in and she had him sit in the corner where the games were and started hanging out with him instead of serving her small Sunday crowd. I believe she needs coaching on customer service and how to...
Read moreA testament to perfection: The best chicken sandwich I've ever had A truly great chicken sandwich is a culinary event, and the one I recently experienced was a masterclass in execution. From the first sight to the last bite, it redefined what a perfect fried chicken sandwich could be. This wasn't just lunch; it was a memory. The star of the show was the chicken itself. It was perfectly fried—a golden, magnificent beacon of deliciousness. What set it apart was the breading. It was flawlessly even and thorough, clinging to every inch of the tender, juicy meat. The texture was a revelation: a crisp that didn't just crunch but sang. There was no oiliness to distract from the pure, unadulterated pleasure of the crunch. The perfectly seasoned coating was a testament to a chef who truly understood the art of frying. The chicken's interior was just as impressive. It was unbelievably moist and tender, a stark contrast to the crunchy exterior. Everything else on the sandwich was a supporting character, elevating the main event. I might suggest the thick cut bacon and slice of sharp cheddar as welcome addition. The soft noble bun held everything together, providing a delicate sweetness that perfectly complemented the savory fried chicken. This sandwich wasn't a product of hype or fleeting trends; it was a classic done right. It was the kind of food that reminds you why simple dishes, when made with care and skill, can be so incredibly satisfying. If I could, I'd have...
Read moreMet a couple of friends here. A few patrons were there and we decided to sit at the bar. Before we knew it, it was a packed house. Christian was the only server, so our orders took a bit but we didn’t mind. He was hustling, trying to accommodate everyone and still with a smile! I ordered the blackberry margarita. To be honest, I didn’t taste the alcohol much—almost like a sweet drink; which is dangerous bc before I knew it, I felt the buzz! Ordered another, along with a Cali Creamin’.
As suggested, I ordered the Bees Knees crispy chicken sandwich. Oh my goodness! Perfect crunch, packed with flavor, juicy chicken accompanied with sweet potato fries. I was full before I knew it. I was eyeing the pork belly appetizer but I ended up with the edamame. That sauce used on the edamame is officially one of my favorites now! My daughter is a vegetarian and sometimes has a hard time finding a dish she actually enjoys—she got the veggie burger and was delighted. So, it’s safe to say, she’ll return as well.
I definitely will be back. There are other dishes I want to try, along with cocktails. Service was amazing…the time for our orders was no issue for me. I...
