I'm very disappointed. I used to frequent this establishment a lot. You can't trust their menu anymore, apparently they claim to include things with your item that aren't actually included and their quality of service greatly diminished.
It has been a few years since my last visit, but I was in the area and wanted my fiancé to try it since he had never been. We were greeted promptly and seated very quickly, even though they were busy. So far so good. Our drink order was placed and we received our drinks relatively fast; everything had a good start. We ordered the Deluxe Nachos because we weren't overly hungry and it sounded fantastic with green chili beef, cheese, onions, tomatoes, jalapeños, sour cream and salsa. I love green chili and sour cream, so I was excited.
Our food arrived. The server saw that my fiancés beer was empty and said she would be right back with another for him and she quickly walked away without asking us if we needed anything else. We started nibbling on the food and I was immediately disappointed. We had barely two tablespoons of onions and about six small chunks of mealy tomatoes on the top and no sour cream or salsa anywhere. We nibbled while we waited for her to bring the beer back, expecting her soon so we could request our missing items, too.
Fast forward 15 minutes. No beer. No server. No sour cream or salsa that should have arrived with our food. We finally flagged her down and she nodded at us, annoyed.
When she brought the beer, we pointed out to her that our food did not come with the sour cream and salsa the menu listed. She then told us it didn't come with it. It was $1 more if you want to add salsa or sour cream. Um? No. Your menu says otherwise. If your menu is wrong, you should tell people that so they can choose something else. Did I seriously pay $3 more for six pieces of mealy, mushy tomato and a couple tablespoons of onions!? And you want me to pay an additional $1 each for a side of salsa and a side of sour cream? Really!?
I was a server for years. I know how hard they work. That's why I always tip 20-25%. It pained me to tip this girl 15%. She acted like she didn't care, treated us like we were a waste of her time and then didn't tell us that what we ordered didn't come with what the menu listed.
I was really excited to be going to Q again and for my fiancé to enjoy it, but he was less than impressed and I was left apologizing for suggesting the place. Q has sacrificed their quality of service. I don't...
Read moreWe were there just last night. I've been coming here about a year. I'm not sure what is going on now but our experience was not good. First I asked the server how were the nachos. Her reply"amazing". Ummm no. We were served nachos with cheese wiz!!! I couldn't eat any of them. I tried. But couldn't get past the cold cheese wiz just plopped on. Then there's the "q sauce". That was just browned ground beef. My 2 friends were starving so they did eat them. I did not. When the sever came back much later,I asked her about it. She stated oh no, it's not cheese wiz it comes out of a can. Ugh. I'm sorry but this is Arizona. There is an abundance of Mexican restaurants. If I wanted nachos like that I would go to QT or circle k.I don't. I did suggest to her maybe you need to let people know it's not real cheese. I had inquired about it so we definitely should have been told. A while later our food came out. I'm not sure why service was slow there were only 2 tables. My friend noticed she was also working the bar. I had ordered the French dip. It was half cold inside, swiss cheese not even melted and very dry and bland. The "aujus" that came with it was unsalted beef broth. I did not eat any. I just couldn't. I would have told our server if she had ever come back to check on us but she did not. My friend didn't eat most of her cheese steak. However her bf did eat his. She never even asked why we had not eaten. My whole sandwich was untouched except for 2 bites. I like to enjoy my food when I go out. This was not cheap. More importantly I was so embarrassed because I had told my friends how good this was. However I have always gone for the fish on the weekends. So that's that. Their fish is absolutely delicious. I was extremely disappointed with this visit with food...
Read moreWe have been coming here since they opened and the food & service have been consistently excellent throughout the years. It's a nice little neighborhood bar that we travel 25 miles to get to when we come.
My Minnesota friends say this bar is typical of Minnesota - relatively dark inside with lots of dead animals on the walls. Being vegetarian I tune out the animals and focus on what I like best - the rest of the experience.
My husband is a huge fan of the Friday all-you-can-eat night fish fry. He also loves the fried mini taco's as an appetizer. I don't eat any type of meat so I stick with grilled cheese (pepper jack on rye) and friend zucchini, which is always fantastic. Surprisingly, the salsa here is amazing, even better than many Mexican restaurants.
The service is the best - fast & friendly and they always know how to take care of you whether you're a party of 1 or a group picky group of 8.
There is an indoor (non-smoking) dining area and bar as well as an outside bar and seating area that allows smoking. They have done a wonderful job with the outside bar, which is fully covered, has climate control and great seating. Even on a chilly rainy evening November you will be comfortable out here.
Pros: Fast & friendly service Fresh fish Menu selection with healthy options Salsa! (who would have thought?) Drinks made right Ice cold beer Fun atmosphere Inside & outside seating/bar Clean inside & out
Cons: Because of all the pros, parking can be crazy on a Friday night, this place...
