Man I hate to do this…..my FINAL review of this place…..second time coming back after the first attempt was a fail because the food was just way too salty. Owner was really nice and offered us a complimentary meal and the food was much better. We decided to go again based off the good customer service and the food yet again was entirely way too salty and just really disappointing. Me and my husband had two carne asada burritos and maybe it’s the burritos that are too salty? I don’t know but I could barely eat my food. Really just lacks flavor too. I am giving three stars because of the previous customer service experience but I probably won’t return back here. Sad.
Update to my original one star review and a shout out to the owner Jose for great customer service: I was excited to try this place based on following their IG for several months and all the positive ratings. My husband went there all the way from Avondale and we are sorely disappointed with the food. I ordered carne asada tacos and the torta and holy smokes, it was wayyyyyy to salty. I love salty food too but this was way too much. I had maybe five bites and couldn't finish all the other food my husband had bought. About 15 minutes later sure enough had a raging headache and wasn't feeling well due to high blood pressure because of all the salt that was in the food. That was literally the only flavor from the tacos I tasted....salt. I wanted to like this place so bad because I've been trying to incorporate a more plant based lifestyle but I won't be returning back here. Maybe they had just had a bad day and I was one of the unlucky ones that had an unacceptable meal. All the good reviews make me jealous as to why our food turned out the way it did.
The owner messaged me on Instagram apologizing saying that they hired new staff and the seasoning (salt) was off tremendously that day. Stated if we give them another try our food will be complimentary. We had ordered carne asada tacos, a carne asada burrito and a torta that we couldn’t consume because of that reason. I’m updating my review to three stars because of the apology alone from the business. We live quite far from this business however a part of me wants to give this business another try. We shall see!
Last update: Just had the new food (free of charge) and wow so much better! I am so impressed with the customer service and of course the food! I can’t believe this isn’t real meat! I am so glad I came back to try the food again! Thanks to...
Read moreMy wife and I have been planning on coming here for a while. We have heard great things about this place and I heard the story of how they came to be on the news. They also have the sweet bike racks outside which are in itself a great picture. No problem putting our bikes on them. When we walked in we were greeted by Maritza who was extremely friendly and informative. She asked us if it was our first visit and when we responded yes she basically explained the whole menu and even what they were made of. I didn't expect this at all. She really impressed not just my wife but myself. We opted for the taco plate and the quesobirria tacos. I cannot eat chicken so I was extremely excited about the chicken taco. I got a asada, chicken and pastor tacos. The carne asada taco was the best overall. I am from Tijuana and if you have ever had Tijuana Street tacos you will be surprised that they taste very similar. The chicken honestly was a let down for me and the pastor was good but not great. The birria tacos were not as good as the asada tacos but very delicious and I recommend. The salsa they have there was very good. The green was tasty and not spicy but adds good flavor. I took a spoon and did a taste on the two and the green you can have spoonful after spoonful and not worry about the heat. The dark though is very spicy. If you don't like heat then stay with the green. I am definitely going to be returning so I can taste the entire menu eventually. I love that you feel like you are in Mexico with the environment but are eating vegan. If you are looking to change the routine and try something different please check them out. Great spot and not too expensive considering it's vegan. Warning though, remember they are street tacos so don't be expecting the tacos to be huge as they are mini size. If you want to get stuffed then remember it's not budget tacos. The picture of the food I uploaded was 42 bucks after the well deserved tip that we...
Read moreI usually do not rate restaurants who’s owners or workers may not be Vegan. However this review is about the amazing support and experience we received from; Fia or Sofia I believe was her name, who informed us is a real ethical Vegan. Her recommendations were delicious and her service was thoughtful and supportive. Because we did not leave a large tip we decided to write this review for her amazing job! Thank you Sofia for the great experience we had of being supported by another real vegan. The place itself should be known more as plant made tacos and not tacos Veganos since there is no ethical position on part of the restaurant. The food is definitely catered towards heavy process foods although very tasteful. If you decide to go and you are a real Vegan ask for Sofia the Vegan because only a Vegan may recommend what is best for another Vegan! p.s. #GoVegan because if you believe non human animals have moral value than you are obligated by your own position to be Vegan. It is the minimum we owe to the animals if you do not just considered them things with no moral value. Justifying their property status for pleasure, taste, and convenience is not analogous with saying you care for or like non human animals. If you do not value animals you should still go Vegan to address the issues that arise from a non vegan human world; such as food insecurity, zoonotic diseases (such as Covid and Ebola) and climate change. Veganism is about justice against the senseless violence of the human animal towards all other non human animals used as means to human ends. To learn more about the subject of Veganism; please read Why Veganism Matters: The Moral Value of Animals by professor Gary...
