The Bar Arcadia — Restaurant in Phoenix

First visit last night after seeing a good rating here. Really disappointed in what I found here, very small, not really crowded, not a sports bar, not a music bar, I'm not sure what, if any, theme. I can guess they must have had the idea they would be a local craft beer bar because the national brands that most of us drink routinely are under represented. Too bad for us, the bartender has to explain the beer as it is like another you may or may not have tried, but they don't have it and samples aren't offered. Food, I tried the Cuban sandwich, is good, but you must leave your seat, go to the back of the bar to order, pay, and then the cook walks the 15 steps from the kitchen ( behind the bar) to deliver the food to your seat you have self identified by the plastic number you setup after you were given. Now picture that the bar is small, it has maybe twenty bar stools and three booths without table service of any kind, from what I saw. Behind the bar is a large print of Jeff Bridges in character as "The Dude" from the movie "The Big Lebowski", maybe the theme should be White Russians or milk drinks? I came here about three or four months ago with some coworkers just enjoying the night after work. After a few drinks and beers we end up making friends with some of the other patrons at the facility. Unbeknownst to me the patron who we were talking with had went inside, made a ruckus while ordering food, and came back out and started talking to me. So when the server came out, he literally threw the food on the table to where you can hear the clink of it hitting the table and kind of just stood there. I proceeded to hesitantly thank him for the mediocre service for him to then proceed and say what are you thanking me for and do we have a problem. Confused about where the hostility came from, I answered for bringing the food out, to where he kind of rolled his eyes and checked with my other coworkers to see if everything was “OK.” I will never come back here again because I felt unwelcomed and the other patron who was a brown person as well clearly...

I came in here on a whim because I’ve seen it numerous times and figured, “why not, I have some work to do, and it’s four minutes from home.” I enjoy having a drink by myself, and this was a great place to do it. They have a great selection of beer and cocktails, ample seating for a smaller space, it was clean with a nice dive feel, no weird looks because I’m a woman flying solo enjoying a beer, and the winning factor: the bartender was genuinely personable. I like to jump around to a lot of spots around town, but I’ll definitely come back here because of the service she gave.

Update: came here again with a friend and have to say, the girls here are always super friendly and attentive. Also got the chance to eat and the food does not disappoint. The BLT was loaded with bacon and the fries were by far some of the best I’ve had in a long time. Crispy on the outside, soft...
