The small but soaring wine room with a library ladder to reach the upper bottles, along with very friendly host(esses) were our introduction to the Desert Ridge Keg. We were torn between dining at the bar (as we do in most restaurants), or at a high top in a secluded corner of the bar, or in one of the comfortable and clubby dining rooms. We chose one of the spacious booths (we like a booth when we are not dining at the bar), not far from the fireplace (which was not burning that night because the weather was not right for it). In fact, it was quite beautiful outside, so we also could have dined al fresco, on the covered patio. Next time. We were pleased to see that the wine list offered a good selection of reasonably priced bottles, as well as some pricier ones. We chose reasonably priced, as we usually do, partly because we drink so much wine and partly to minimize restaurant wine markups. Being a steakhouse, the menu had a very good beef selection, including the sirloin baseball cut, which I haven’t seen for many moons. But instead of ordering a steak I ordered the duck confit special, which was excellent and very generous, half of which will be my lunch tomorrow. Sarah ordered one of the prime rib offerings, which were well explained by our excellent server. She was not only quite happy with it, but half of it became lunch today. Because the human tummy has a separate compartment for desserts, Sarah ordered the carrot cake (half of which will be dessert tomorrow) and the chocolate cake (all of which I ate right then, even though bringing half home would have been the right thing to do). But hey, it was chocolate and delicious and actually had flour (I often say you can get a flourless chocolate cake just about anywhere, so a chocolate layer cake with flour, like my mother used to make, is welcome and unique among restaurants). We will be back.

My husband and I tried this restaurant for the first time. He ordered a 12 oz steak, garlic potatoes, and it came with a side of green beans and carrots. He asked that the steak be cooked medium well but he got it and it was cooked more like rare. I got the lobster tail and a 8 oz steak with garlic potatoes and a side of carrots and green beans. I think our steaks might have been cooked at the same time and that's why his didn't reach the medium well. This is the first time I had lobster so I have nothing to compare it to. It seemed awfully chewy but fine to eat. I know lobster is pricey, so at $22 for about an ounce of meat. I don't think I'll ever get it again. Certainly not there. My steak was cooked properly, however my husband and I agreed that they were completely not flavorful. At Texas Roadhouse steak is so much less expensive and so much tastier. We have never had a problem with how it's cooked either at Texas Roadhouse. We both liked the garlic potatoes though I didn't really taste any garlic, I think the highlight of the meal was how well the carrots and green beans were cooked. This is the first restaurant I've ever had green beans cooked well and were not overcooked and not undercooked. They paired well with the carrots. We also tried the crab cakes. $19 for two of them. They tasted awfully fishy and possibly not fresh but it's Arizona so maybe I can't expect much. The atmosphere was nice and the place was clean. The music was not so loud we couldn't talk but the base was louder than it needed to be. The lighting was extremely dark. I could barely see my food. The waitress was sweet and since it was their first time she gave us a free dessert. However, I don't like coffee so I didn't have any of the coffee ice cream cake. Without our tip our two dinners and appetizer crab cakes came to $117.29. We will never go back.

Stephanie and I went to The Keg to celebrate my birthday, mothers day and our 6th anniversary since these all fall within 10 days of each other. The place was packed and had no available tables for 3 hours. A member of the staff informed me that the bar has full menu service, and was not full yet. We found a table and a server promptly appeared and took our drink order. She was back quickly even though every table and seat at the bar was now full. We placed our order and while waiting for our food our server asked if we needed anything EVERY TIME she passed us while delivering other people's orders. She was extraordinarily attentive and competent. The food was 16 Oz prime rib with twice baked potato and sourdough bread. It was cooked perfectly to order on a pre-warmed plate. It was spiced with a rosemary blend of spice rub and absolutely divine. The twice baked potato was fluffy inside with a nice crisp to the top and a creamy texture with a green onion flavor and miniscule bacon bits that were small enough not to adversely impact the texture. This paired excellently with the flavors of the steak. The sourdough bread had a thin, crispy outer crust and a moist, tender inside served with whipped butter. Excellent. Also at the end of our meal, after the dishes were cleared, our server brought us a complementary half glass of champagne to toast our special day. Absolutely classy. I highly recommend this establishment for special occasions when you wish to give your sweetheart an experience she'll treasure.

Went for my birthday. Made reservations for 6. Couple in pool raved about food. Went early for happy hour. Was busy but found a table. Sat for 10 minutes while a waiter checked on tables on both sides of us. Kept trying to wave somebody down. Finally someone came over to tell us our waitress was taking another order. He brought us water and menus. Waited another 10 min. Wanted a blackberry drink. He asked if we wanted doubles. Sure why not. It's my birthday I'm celebrating. Had skipped lunch, so I ordered calamari. Drinks came. Looks like I got a shot of dark red wine. Definitely wasn't the daiquiri I was expecting. No one came back to ask about it so u drank the mystery drink. Finally the hostess said our table was ready. We were gonna pay our tab. But no calamari, and then our waitress showed up to carry our drinks. Told her to bring our tab and calamari to table. 6 of us squeezed into a round corner booth. Waiter brought water and bread, I Wolfed it down. We order, and the calamari Finally shows up. Not the best I ever had. I like the ring fine but the ones with the little cruncy legs are my favorite. But being hungry, I ate the entire appetizer by myself(no little crunchy leg ones, only rings and bell pepper and sliced jalapenos?) I ordered 10 oz. Prine rib and a side order of grilled jumbo shrimp, with garlic mash. Needed more water, waiter no where to be seen . Meal came, asked for water refill. Table was definitely too small for 6 people with entrées. We had to get rid of drink glasses app plates, etc. Table needed lemons for water and Splenda for ice tea. Kept waiting for waiter. My friends who live in AZ and had just eaten there the week before said they never waited for everything like this before. My prime rib was good. But no as good as lawrys. Grilled shrimp looked delicious, but as I'm chewing, there are hard over cooked parts. Thought maybe it was shell. Nope top of shrimp was grilled too high and too long was like shrimp Jerky. . Finally we get boxes. Waiter bring ice cream dessert that they are famous for. I took a bite. Not a coffee fan ....I don't drink coffee. Waiter never came back. Would have liked to order a dessert. Heard their cream Brule was awesome. Guess I will never know. Was waiting for check and needed water. Table was dry. I kept holding up my glass. Finally someone another waiter brings a carafe and I ask him if he could please pour me some water. Tell me I'm not your waiter. Then why the hell are you bringing us water. Told him I've been waiting 15 minutes for water. Gotta get the coffee tasted out of my mouth and I'm thirsty. Phoenix is only 113. Degrees outside. For the price of the the steaks and drinks and the ambiance. You would think the service would be top notch. Ive had better service steak and grilled shrimp from outback. Just a very disappointing birthday dinner. Next time I will just celebrate in California and go to lawrys. Sorry keg steakhous but your...

such a disappointing visit to what used to be my favorite restaurant. last night (9/18/21) I took my oldest daughter to The Keg for a special dinner. it was one of the worst meals i have ever had, and was a huge disappointment for the price. it started out with the appetizers. we decided to splurge and have a fun night and treat ourselves by sampling two different appetizers. we got the "scallop and bacon" and the "Brie with pepper jelly". In all fairness the Brie with pepper jelly was amazing. The scallops wrapped in bacon weren't the best( scallops over cooked) but not a huge deal. then my Caesar salad came, which is big, so my daughter and I shared it. while separating it we found two strands of hair in it. so disgusting, but i let it slide and brushed it off so not t ruin our night. I had asked for bread with the salad but the waiter didn't bring it until the rest meal was almost over. Moving on to the main course. My daughter got the Filet Mignon which arrived raw in the middle. not rare mind you but raw. my dish was were the two lobster tails. the first thing that struck me was that they didn't de-vein one of the lobster tails. yes the poop track was still in it as they brought it to the table; WOW. while they went to bring me another one i started in on the other tail, each was just over an inch wide and about three inches long. the smallest lobster tails I had ever seen. the lobster was cold to the touch, not room temp but cold. the clarified butter they gave me for it was still cold and had pieces of un-melted butter still in it. then about 10 minutes after i had started to eat the cold lobster tail, the waiter beings me a plate of roasted vegetables and says "we forgot to put these on your plate". the vegetables were still RAW white in the middle. the mashed potatoes that came with the dish were actually watery, yes runny on the plate. and lastly the waiter was only able to get around to refilling my iced tea once during the 1 hour and 35 minute meal. the entire meal ended up costing us $175. I am so disappointed with this place because it used to be such a treat to go there. so in summary, this was an amazing place at one time. a place to take someone special to create a special memory. sadly, this is obviously not the place to go anymore. it turned a rare opportunity to have a special night with my daughter into a horrible experience. i recommend you look elsewhere for your upcoming...

The moment I stepped first foot in this dining establishment, I knew I was in good hands. The willingness and desire of the front area staff was obvious and they took us right into their hands. We were seated at the bar for a free dinner cocktail and our table is ready perfectly on time in fact a few minutes early. We were swept from the bar to the dining area.

First person that greeted us who was the assistant general manager Taylor. She welcomed us and assured us that we were in good hands. Taylor was attentive and knew went to visit and when not to visit during our entire time there. We were then taken to our table where we were introduced to our server Ruby. Ruby was my mother's name so I knew instantly that we were in good hands once again. Ruby knew the menu inside and out and helped us navigate through the many delicious items. Ruby was professional educated on the product and know how to give exceptional service. Between the two of these people we could have had a better experience. Kudos to Taylor and kudos to Ruby.

Is the food of course is exceptional. More than fair size salads and more than fair size portions of everything. Understanding that the portion is not the only important thing was the quality of the food was delicious and perfectly cooked to our satisfaction.

Obviously I could gush on about this place forever but I'm going to stop here. A little bit on the expensive side but hey quality is worth it right. And they provided quality in the food in the service and in the ambiance.

Congratulations guys. You have a fine establishment and will be back soon

P.s. ... One thing we found interesting and funny while we were there is watching what I call the Robert Palmer dancers. Remember them back from the 80s... Anyway it's a group of staff that walks the floor dressed all in black to be unobtrusive of being present. I thought we were being visited by the CIA but what it actually is it's just a few of the staff keeping track of the floor the tables the service everything that goes on. We had a brief chat with them and let them...
